Pours amber, lacy white head. Smells of alcohol, sugar, caramel, spices, citrus. Lots of flavors: cherries, cinnamon, black licorice, meringue. Cream, toffee, spices, candy sugar. Big body, some linger.

Nez alcool et malts caramelisés. En bouche on retrouve les malts, l’alcool et pas mal d’épices: c’est assez complexe. Palais sucré et huileux.

0,33l bottle. Beutiful clear amber/orange colour with quicklydisappearing white head becouse of the high alcohol %. Aroma: Sweet fruity, banana, candy sugar, alcohol, honey. Taste: Very sweet start a bit bitter too but it has a warming mouthfeel. Oily texture. Full bodied with soft carbonation. Surprisngly bitter finish. A good beer, but not as good as a usual belgian strong ale. The high alcohol% is okey not too harsh.

First sip said booze! Took that second look at the label and saw 11.8% Ahhhhh. Past the booze, which isn’t overwhelming considering the percentage, you get some sweet caramel malts, some mild bready yeasts, nothing notable on the hops front. Overall an alright beer, a boozy bonanza, but not exceptional.

UPDATED: APR 6, 2016 From 2d2despuma. In Teku glass. Playing South Park The Stick of Truth. 75 years edition (2008) Nasty aspect (no foam at all, nasty brownish color) but very pleasant sugary sweetness. To drink slowly because of its booziness

Bottle - clear golden, high carbonation with thin off White head. Pleasant, strong fruity aroma. Ting on tongue - strong tasting, lasting in mouth. Can feel the alcoholic 12% content - but nice.

Pale amber pour. The nose is softly spicy. There’s a little bit of
vanilla and a touch of fruit and spice. Very peppery and a little bit
fruity. Some light higher alcohols. Quite dry and a little bit zippy.
Has a touch of acidity and some soft pepper. The alcohol is apparent
and there is a little bit of heat but it’s a solid strong ale.

Smager helt klart hen ad barley wine, men med en 12% er det vel forståeligt, er lidt spritet i eftersmagen, som dog kun er mest i eftersmagen, lidt synd for den er ellers virkelig god.

I honestly didn’t think this was very good for a Belgian Strong Ale. The nose is heavy alcohol and caramel malt. Flavors are straightforward sweet and alcoholic. Pours a nice deep amber color with little head/lacing. Body was a little cloying. Normally for a big ABV like this beer has, I would expect deep complexity of flavor but that was not the case for this one. It could probably be put down for a few years in order to age and mellow down for the flavors to develop a bit more.
