4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: DEC 19, 2014 2009. At first sniff, I got prunes, spices, yeast, sour apples, banana peel, figs, and dark cherries. It was amazing enough already, but then I let it sit for a bit and dove my nose into the glass again and, oh, Lordy! It was the greatest thing ever. Mountains upon mountains of toffee, all bursting with fruity esters and spices. The alcohol is barely perceivable, if at all. The taste is sweet and fruity tart, with residual bitterness. It evokes figs, dark cherries, caramel, and apple cider up front and culminates with mellow, woody undertones. The mouthfeel is smooth as silk, with minor carbonation and a medium body. Otherworldly!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
July 31st, 2013 - This is my first Panneport Reserva 2005, and comes hot on the heels of other beer celebrities at the epic beer tasting party from July, 2013. My friend Kepano donated this tiny treasure, for which I am very grateful. After many years of aging it makes its final departure from the bottle with a cloudy, murky brown appearance, with clear layers slowly swirling up and down like a sepia aurora borealis. And from this potion comes scents of almond, milk chocolate, cream and heady, rich custard. Like many exquisite Belgians it is at the same time dry and sweet. The flavor balances precariously across both the dry and sweet spectrum too, imitating the rich fan of flavors one kinds in skillfully brewed quadruples. A sampling of the tastes present include light pear, dusty wood, a moderate alcohol buzz, red grape, and a long, rich umami deep aftertaste with some of the bordeaux grape note lingering on the palate. 8 years in the bottle has given this brew some real meditation time, and I think the result is a lovely bouquet and flavor medley that won over all our hearts at this celebratory beer event.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Very dark brown, bordering to "shady red black" colour. Head dissipates not so quite quickly, but that’s normal for a beer with such ABV.
On the nose: dried figs, raisins, caramelised sugar, chocobananas, molasses, some alcohol, spicy, bramble jam.
Taste: caramel, dried fruits, some alcohol, some tannins, complex, smooth, a hint of chocolate. Sweet, but still very balanced. A very good one.

2010 bottle. Great beer! You can certainly feel it is a Pannepot, but there is an smooth added tone of vanilla, and a little wood. Compaired to the original beer, i also seem to find a little roasted coffee-like taste.
