COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Pannepot Reserva was an idea from my brew collegue Carlo who wanted to age Pannepot in genuine French oak barrels (barrique 225 liters). We have brewed 90HL at the end of 2005 which has been aging on oak ever since (14 months). 30 Hl was bottled Tuesday 8th May 2007. 60Hl has been transferred now to second hand calvados oak vessels and will be bottled again early autumn 2007, we will name that batch Pannepot Grand Reserva. As quality and results rule at Struise, the Reserva was already brewed again and aging on oak.

Definitely mellower than the non-reserve version. Has an almost tangy taste to it.

33 cl bottle from Etre Gourmet. 2009 Vintage. Pours dark brown/reddish with a medium brown head. Leaves a good lacing. Aroma of dark fruits, fig, prune, raisins, bread. Very complex and nice aroma. Flavour is is same as aroma. Alcohol taste is completely hidden. Very complex and very well balanced. Full body, medium carbonation, low bitterness, slick mouthfeel.

330 ml bottle into chalice, 2009 vintage. Pours murky dark reddish brown color with a small khaki head with decent retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Minimal glass lacing with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big raisin, prune, fig, molasses, toast, clove, pepper, oak, light roast, brown bread, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of malt and fruity/spicy notes with moderate oak presence. Taste of raisin, prune, fig, molasses, toast, toffee, clove, pepper, oak, brown bread, light roast, and toasted earthiness. Lingering notes of dark fruit, molasses, toast, toffee, oak, clove, pepper, brown bread, light roast, and earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity and balance of malt and fruity/spicy flavors; with moderate oak presence and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a creamy and slick mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic oak aged quadrupel. Big complexity and great balance of flavors; and quite smooth to sip on. A highly enjoyable offering.

Refrigerated 11.2 oz. brown 2009 bottle poured into a trappist glass. Pours dark brown with small medium brown highlights. Little lacing, medium body, medium carbonation, and dark fruit aroma. Taste is oak, dark fruit, and a hint of alcohol which peaks every once and a while. Complex but still pretty easy to drink. Probably past its prime.

Bottle at home bought at the schoolyard in 2009. Aroma is full plum raisin caramel and a touch old Christmas pud booziness. Really sark caramel colour with a little ruby. Light swirling tan head and some legs. Flavour is rich deep rum raisin oak and roast come through in the finish but it is perfectly balanced. Long mellow duration. Palate is velvety. Great beer.

I smell chocolate, dried fruits, vanilla, malts. The rich sweet flavours make me smile and give a glimp of heaven.

ZBF Festival 2013 - Black with thick, creamy head. Thick, oily and warming from the alcohol. It’s very rich. I don’t get much from the barrel on this one but the treacly, burnt sugars are nice.
