The Pannepot Reserva was an idea from my brew colleague Carlo who wanted to age Pannepot in genuine French oak barrels (barrique 225 liters). We have brewed 90HL at the end of 2005 which has been aging on oak ever since (14 months). 30 Hl was bottled Tuesday 8th May 2007. 60Hl has been transferred now to second hand calvados oak vessels and will be bottled again early autumn 2007, we will name that batch Pannepot Grand Reserva. As quality and results rule at Struise, the Reserva was already brewed again and aging on oak.

Dark reddish brown beer, nice lacing once again. Lovely sweet, complex and vinous aroma, the alcohol is more present here than in the original but it smells like heaven itself. So malty, spicy, fruity, now with some nice wooden notes mixed in rather than distracting the whole like in Pannepot Grand reserva. So soft yet very warming, you can feel the alcohol mostly when it has already gone down your throat. Superb beer, at least as good as the regular pannepot which makes it a perfect beer or perfect beer plus for me. Got to get more of this, If I had to drink only one beer for the rest of my life it would be this one. Still gay for Pannepot, have to five the bastard and shut up now before someone gets annoyed with me.

Bottle from Dranken Verheyen in Poppel. The beer is hazy dark brown to black colored and has a creamy head, with nice carbonation. The aroma is very malty and soft spicy with also notes of dried fruits and caramel and some cacao is noticable. Smell of oak is nearly not noticable. The taste is full bodied and sweet with hints of caramel and dark fruits, and changes into a light bitterness with notes of cacao, spices, coffee and some refreshing hops. The finish is light bitter and long and leaves some nice warming alcohol. Just wow, but there is not much difference between the normal Pannepot and this one.

Versão 2010. Excelente. Muito saborosa e aromática. Encorpada, mas não é pesada ou enjoativa. Teor alcoólico muito bem inserido.

33cl bottle. Dark brown pour with a dark tan head and visible carbonation. Smells like apple brandy, burnt caramel, raisins, cocoa and chocolate. The taste includes all those notes, and, in addition, a bit of cola and milk coffee. Full bodied with medium carbonation and a sticky-sweet and roasty aftertaste. My favourite by quite a bit, from the Pannepot series.

UPDATED: JUN 16, 2016 (2014) [8/2/7/3/12] Marrom escura e avermelhada igual coca cola, esouma bege de pouca formação e persistência. No aroma malte, caramelo, uva passa, açucar queimado, doce, álcool perceptível. Final misto amadeirado, açucar queimado, bastante malte, aveludada, persistente. Muito boa.

Aroma - alcoholic, dark fruit, rich brown sugar, and spice. Appearance - black body, with a beige head that starts at 1" and fizzles out to a fine ring. Alcohol cloying. Taste - dark fruit, alcohol, brown sugar, slight roast, and a slight Belgian yeast. Palate - full body, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and slightly alcoholic astringency.
