A light-coloured, spicy single-bock wheat beer, for both beer lovers and the beer connoisseur. Extra long and cold storage in our monastery cellars makes this single-bock a really special beer with full body and a distinctively great mouthfeel. Prost!

Hazy, opaque gold with a thin white head. Banana/ester nose. Medium bodied with high carbonation. Pure flavors of banana and pear. Long, layered finish.

Pours a clear pale golden with a large pillowy white head. Aroma of esters, phenolics, and light wheat graininess. Flavor sweet banana and cloves with some wheat grain. Finishes slightly sweet. Very nice rounded out body while still being a good refresher.

Appearance: Vitus pours a hazy, golden, light amber. Held to the light, oranges and yellow burst from the haze and almost make it glow. Superior. The head here is a finger and a half high mass of stark white, tiny bubbled foam. The thickness takes it’s time dissipating. It makes for an attractive and "classic" beer look. What should I expect from the oldest brewery in the world though? Smell: Cloves and bananas are the first things I detect. They dominate at first but there’s a sweetness here followed by a wheat tang. It’s neat, you can actually smell each layer come apart. Underneath everything is a peppery-ness to it all. There’s also a faint peach or apricot aroma...quite intoxicating. Mouthfeel: Very light. Vitus goes down incredibly smooth. There’s a weight here though, almost like a "cereal" texture inside it all. Taste: The first taste that hits has a creamy banana taste and quality. It’s light but it lays on the tongue with confidence. As the creaminess fades and the beer moves to the middle of the tongue, there’s a peppery-ness and the strong flavor of cloves. Each layer here is very simple and distinct. It’s really something of beauty. As the beer finishes, everything smooths out and goes down as if it had never happened. Too drinkable. Overall: A reasonably price beer that looks, smells, feels and tastes amazing from the oldest brewery in the world. Could a beer lover ask for more? I’d say no. Vitus is an all time favorite and a real showstopper for me. Pick this beer up. You will not be dissappointed.

Bottle from Beerart, Thessaloniki: Hazy golden colour with big white head. Aroma of banana, orange, licorice, yeast, wheat. Sweet taste, with banana, clove, lemon, yeast and wheat. Medium bodied with average to high carbonation. Overall, a very very very good beer, although it does not completely fit my taste.

500 ml bottle into signature weizen glass, bottle code of 1291(mid 2011 bottling). This took a while to fully pour haha. Pours hazy golden orange color with a nice 3 finger dense white head with incredible retention that reduces to a thick cap that lasts. Some spotty lacing on the glass with plenty of carbonation streaming up. Aromas of big banana, clove, pepper, biscuit, orange, wheat, bubblegum, earth, and yeast spices. Very nice aroms with good complexity and balance. Taste of big banana, bubblegum, lemon, clove, pepper, orange zest, bread, wheat, earth, and yeast spices. Fairly spicy finish; with lingering notes of banana, citrus, pepper, clove, bread, earth, and yeast spices on the finish for a good bit. Incredible flavor balance of maltiness and yeast spiciness; with great complexity. Medium carbonation and body; with fairly slick and creamy mouthfeel that is extremely smooth. Alcohol is extremely well hidden for 7.7%, with pretty much no warming after the finish present. Overall this is an absolutely fantastic weizenbock style. Insane flavor balance and complexity, and extremely smooth to drink for the level of alcohol. This one is definitely better when it is fresher (previous review was with an ’09 bottle).

Buona. Aroma di pera, banana mediamente speziato. Al palato troppo carbonata (mio parere), gusto dolce bananoso, alcoholico e cerealoso. Buona ma lontana dalle eccellenze tipo l’Aventinus o la Meinel Weizenbock.

Draught at Ta’am Ha’Ir food fair in Tel Aviv. Cloudy-orange in colour, creamy, steady white head, fresh banana, fruit and a little clove aroma, sweet and subtle sour notes. Full body, soft carbonation, sweet aftertaste. Loved it.

500ml bottle. Pours a cloudy pale orange with a healthy creamy white head. Aroma is definitely more spice heavy than the usual wheat beer, with clove, yeast, banana, and black pepper. Taste is more of the same, heavy spice, yeast, and a big hit of banana and a mild sweetness. For a wheat beer, this comes through with a little more malt, and a metallic bitterness that usually isn’t present, especially in the finish. The 7.7% is definitely evident. Thumbs up.
