4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Draft at Khyber Pass (though have had many times in the past.) Pours jet black with a slim tan head. The bourbon version is the best of the bunch. A big step above the original (which is already a tremendous brew!) Huge dark notes with a creamy smooth texture. Rich bourbon flavors. Notes of charcoal. Leather. French roast coffee. Belgium chocolate. Burnt marshmallow. Nutella. Some juicy red fruits hiding under the deep dark waves. Flavors are perfectly blended. Thick full body. Warms to a spicy vanilla caramel. Certainly something to sip and savor, though a very smooth finish. Not afraid to give this one of my highest ratings. One of my favorite beers ever for many years! Wonderful!

Wow intense nose! Very aggressive and boozey. Light body in the world of barley wines.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Huge oaky boozy aroma, some vanilla, raisins, bourbon. No head. No carbonation but it does not matter that much. The oak is dominant but this beer is big! I find some yeasty hints also. Warm finish. Nice winter sipper.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Location/Date:Bottle split with Dave on November 30th, 2013.
Appearance: Pours a dark black.
Aroma: Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, and chocolate.
Taste: Chocolate, light bourbon, vanilla.
Summary: This is definitely different than many barleywines I’ve had. More on the chocolate, hint of bourbon but not overpowering on the booze. Really nice.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Nice sweet whiskey aroma, which I assume is the bourbon. Caramel notes as well. Pretty burgundy color that was smooth and syrupy. No head to speak of. Carbonation was mild. Any more would not have worked. Very oily and viscous texture. The OG much have been pretty high. Sweet malt flavors with vanilla and toffee. A strong flavor of whiskey with alcohol notes. Definitely a sipping beer and great example of this brewery’s prowess.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Intense caramel maltiness, sweet bourbon, raisins, noticeable vanilla, dried dark fruits, intense aroma of wood, decent hops. Complex aroma bomb. Smooth and nicely warming finish. Bit sticky. Not too pushy sweetness.
Another huge brew by Lost Abbey. Price/performance makes this "must have at least once"

2008 bottle shared at Levi’s house. Uncarbonated. Rich leathery tobacco bourbon chocolate tones. Caramel bourbon juice. Sweet, lovely beverage. Delicious, but the lack of carbonation hurts the overall.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
On tap at Urge during their Black Sabbath SDBW event. Pours a dark brown-black with a one finger tan head with nice lacing. Aroma is of dark fruits, moderately roasted malts, burnt caramel, molasses, oak, bourbon, raisins, candied fruits, and some vanilla. Taste is very similar to the aroma with some amazing oak notes, dark caramel, candied fruits, vanilla, molasses, and some rum like notes. Has a full body with a super creamy mouthfeel and a slightly bitter, long finish. Overall, a truly amazing beer that incredibly has almost no noticeable booze and is defiantly the best Barley Wine I have tasted to date.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
375 ml bottle from trade with Crajun. Thanks Kevin! Pours a murky dark brown with a small fizzy head that fades to a ring. Aroma has a big oaky vanilla taste from the barrel with some nice dark fruit, cocoa, caramel, cookie dough, and raisins. Some alcohol starts to show up when it warms. Taste is moderately sweet and fairly boozy. The barrel flavor is strong, I wish the base beer would come through just a bit more. Becomes a touch hot when it warms. Medium body. Good BB barleywine but I’ve had many better.
