Pretty standard standard amber...nicely balanced and drinkable...and unfortunately, forgettable as well.

Clear deep amber color, tan head & great lacing. Roasty caramel malt nose. Toffee, caramel and smoky flavors. Smooth, medium bodied brew with light hop profile at the finish.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Nice flagship beer anyone can enjoy from a solid. solid brewery.
It certainly isn’t the best of Highland’s beers, but I would never turn one down. Nice malty taste and well balanced. Mixes well with chicken dishes too.
Makes one hell of a beer batter.

Rcvd in trade.
She pours a hazy yet somewhat clear amber and leaves the same colored body with a two finger head that rose a bit and died leaving some nice spotty spider web lacing in its wake.
The smell has some malts through bready/slightly caramel, subdued citrus/pine hops only coming through as the beer warms.
The taste is mainly balanced through previously mentioned flavors but adds some slight bitterness.
On the palate, she sits about a light to medium, comes across fairly sessionable, and leaves a crisp clean aftertaste and finish.
Overall, this is good for its style and good for me as I would have this again.

Bottle. Clear reddish liquid with small white head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, bread, toast, earth and metal. Taste is dry and light to medium bitter with notes of toffee, dried fruit, metal, earth and bread. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Meh.

Not much aroma, slightly fruity. Pours a brilliant red, amber-tinged with an off white head like a cappuccino. Very nutty, a faint sweetness from the malt brings everything together nicely. A step above your average amber ale.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
A well-crafted amber ale, lives up to the reputation of its brewery. Appearance is flawless, a beautiful amber red color with a full and long-lasting head, consistent lacing. Aroma is sweet malt and fruity hoppiness, with OK, but a bit weak, intensity. Taste is pleasant, toasty, caramel maltiness, fruity hops with a modest bitterness. I'm not sure if the sweet maltiness and the fruity hop flavors are the best combination, but whatever is deficient in the taste is more than compensated for by the creamy and full-bodied texture. Finishes smooth with a mild aftertaste. Overall, actually reminded me of a Sam Adams Boston lager, but I would recommend this between the two. I also would say much more enjoyable than most other amber ales such as Fat Tire. I certainly will purchase this beer again, and I intend to try some of Highland's other brews.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
on draft poured a clear copper color with white head. leaving lacing around the glass. the aroma was of malt and sweetness and a very minor hop bitterness. the flavor part was very smooth and almost creamy. the sweetness of the malts and the mildness of the hops. the hops truly didnt come out until the end and when it was warmer than served. overall a decent beer from highlands.
