3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 Narnad (1135) - Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA - FEB 10, 2012
Pours a very hazy orange color with a low quick fading white head. Aroma has a strong pine kick first with a very strong grapefruit citrus note late. Flavor has a strong grapefruit punch early, with an almost white pepper kick in the middle. The beer finishes with a little more of an orange citrus kick and some light grainy sweet notes. Very well balanced with the amount of hops present as there are transitions in the flavor as opposed to a straight up punch of hops the entire time. Body is light, low amount of carbonation and some light alcohol heat is present. Overall a good, well balanced IPA. Warmer this beer, the better it is in my opinion.

Ughhh. my head still hurts thinking about the whole afternoon. You see...UD and I seem to be somewhat reknown at the Dutch. The planets were in alignment and we were there together sans wives with the express purpose to drink some beer. Mission accomplished. After two others and two of these, my day was done. Yes, by God an excellent example of the West Coast IPA. More hop biting than malty. A head that does not want to go away. Wafting nose of hop. Hops from start to finish. Some great rambling conversations with all over these boisterous imperial pints.

Union Jack pours a clear amber color. A ton of bubbles rise from the bottle of the glass. Small amount of head pours. There is a ton of lacing as you drink this brew. Rings left after every sip. First whiff, yup this is definitely a West Coast IPA. Huge amount of fruit. Grapefruit and mango. But there is a good enough malt background to make this a balanced IPA. Taste is just fantastic. There’s the fruit again. It’s juicy and big. Mangos and grapefruit. In the end you get bready malt and a nice bitter ending from the hops. While the smell and taste of this beer is good enough to make this a fantastic IPA, the mouthfeel is the crowning jewel. The mouthfeel is sticky and thick. It coats the mouth and throat as it goes down. I haven’t had a IPA this thick in a while.

on tap at the dutch, enjoyed with friends.
pours an inviting tan/burnt orange hue, small foamy head with good retention. lacing rings the cheater pint.
nose is all pine and citrus hop along with slight hint of caramel in the background
taste is quick prickly bitterness followed but a punch of pine. washed away gently with malt and onse again light caramel.
I ended up drinking three of these (thanks coldbrewky, and Johhnyownerofthedutch). I have a headache. Enough said.

Beautiful gold color. This beer is super hoppy. It has a nice citrus aroma and taste, with a malt sweetness. Finishes with mild bitterness. Great IPA.

High levels of cascade hops, especially added late boil......balanced by a few less dominating hops for flavor. Very good tasting, and lasting hop body. I like this.
