March 20, 2011; from 341mL ISB, refrigerated, BBD: None
Lots of roasted chocolate malt in the nose. A short head with not a lot of visible carbonation. Head sticks around for a little bit, tan. Deep syrupy brown in colour. Bittering hops comes through in the aftertaste after malted mix of roasted nuts, chocolate and sweet toffee. Very balanced. Not much aroma as the beer sits. Carbonation is a little surprising versus what is visible which makes the beer quite refreshing. It’s tasty from sweet chocolate and toffee, yet refreshing from hops and carbonation.

On tap at beerbistro. Pours a clear brownish dark orange with an average-sized light tan head. Aroma is nutty with light roastiness and a little sweet, dark fruit. Taste is similar but with more pronounced roastiness and some dark chocolate. Modest bitterness in finish. Good.
