COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Belgian Royal Stout was brewed as a tribute to one of America’s best pubs. Jennifer and Chris Lively who run the place may be proud of Ebenezer’s Pub. Not only do they have 35 beers on draught, most of these are hard to find Supreme Belgian Ales. Above that, they have one of the most extensive bottle-conditioned beer lists through different bottling dates we have ever seen. Not only can you drink almost any Belgian beer, the worlds best brewery’s are represented. A lot of the guests talk about the American Kulminator, yet with that difference that the Belgian inspired food, is simply great. Black Albert was brewed and crafted with a 100% Belgian ingredients. Pours a blacker than black beer with an inch of dark tan head that lingers as it cascades into itself. Nice aroma of bitter-sweet chocolate, fresh torrified coffee beans, barley, candy sugar, complex fruits, and floral hops. At the front, there is spiced baker’s chocolate, fresh mocha, caramel like barley touches, and underlying hints of dried fruits which marries the back of your palate and features a Top, and well integrated but not overbearing hop flavour. The after-taste is well balanced and shows a panorama of extreme sensations like chocolate and coffee bitters, a plum cake richness that covers the palate, and a crisp impression of hop bitters that brings elegance and freshness into this massive brew. Deep, dark brown with almost no head at all. Heavy body, full of licorice and coffee. Toffee and alcohol nose. Tried with Jess and Dave at the proeflokaal in Bruges.

Pours black and thick like oil. Aromas of baker’s bittersweet chocolate, molasses and coffee. Very full mouth feel. An interesting and tasty beer.

Pours thick and black. Looks like motor oil. Two finger brown head recedes quickly. Nose smokey with notes of honey, coffee and stained wood. Taste is bitter from smoke followed up by sweet until the bittersweet finish. Mouthfeel is creamy and sharp at the same time. Aftertaste lingers for a long time. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black pour. I had to force a few bubbles to appear, otherwise no head whatsoever. Looks very still. Hence no lacing. Chocolate, raisins, molasses, vanilla and a hint of tires. Alcohol right up front, followed by a very chocolatey molasses flavor. There is some caramel and dried dark fruit notes. A little bit thick, but the alcohol cuts it a bit. No carbonation. Decent.

Bottle care of Lee Shepherd. Pours oily black, with tan thin bubbling head. Nose is delicious. Syrupy black chocolate, underneath which is stewed dark fruits of plum and prune, but the chocolate is dominant. There’s an earthiness in there too and some subtle roasted malt. Taste is dark fruit, chocolate, prune, stewed plum, cocoa powder, candy sugar. Combination of a chocolatey impy stout with Belgian dark fruit. Body is not cloying but medium and fairly light in the mouth. Grows on the palate very nicely. Delicious and very well balanced, not full of ridiculous flavours.

Batch ’0’. Pour opaque, dark, with a big frothy brown head. Aroma is thick of roasted coffee. Also plenty of roasted malts, bitter chocolate, vanilla, caramel, dark sugar and some wood. Taste is sweet, with a roasted bitter finish. Well balanced. Semi-full and oily body, with semi-flat carb.

wow! 13% alcohol! dark black pour; aoma of roasted malts, slight chocolate, some alcohol and even dark fruits? Taste is complex mix of the above with roasted alcohol bitterness at the end. Thanks to whomever sent me this in a trade - great stuff!!

A very good beer with lots of flavor. Roasted notes and chocolate and a nice bitterness. Very dark in color with a white head.
