COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Three Tuns Tavern opened for business in 1732. Since then it has grown and changed with the times. Over the years it has been called the Barren Hill Hotel and the Lafayette Hotel. At the General Lafayette Inn as it is known today, we strive to produce innovative, world class beers that reflect the American Colonial spirit with a bit of French flair.

To commemorate the 275th anniversary of our building we offer this hand-bottled, Barleywine-style ale brewed with imported English ingredients.

With time this beer should gain considerable depth and complexity. Savor it.

Brewed from malted barley, hops, water and three strains of yeast. Aged in Oak Barrels. Limited to 275 bottles.

Pours a dark mahogany/chestnut brown color with golden ruby edges and a very thin ring that immediately fades into nothing. No lacing. Sweet boozy aroma with leathery malt, zesty spice and sweet alcohol. Hints of bourbon, cinnamon, brown sugar and charred oak. Medium bodied with lots of sweet, leathery malt along with hints of toasted oak, caramel, biscuit and toffee. Lots of sweetness with a boozy burn toward the finish and some warmth in the chest. Tastes pretty good but very hot and a bit one dimensional.

22 oz bottle. Dark brown with a trace of beige froth. Nose is caramel, hay and raisin. Medium body with soft carb. Taste is brown sugar, quite sweet. Citrus peel and vanilla add some complexity. A somewhat standard but tasty English style barleywine. Grassy finish.

Bottle shared at the 2010 jimmack invitational. Man did I love this beer. Poured a clear bodied super deep red brown body with not head what-so-ever. Aroma of molasses, dark fruit, caramel, toffee, raisin, honey, and only a touch of alcohol. Man is this sucker smooth for a four year old, syrupy and thick but not cloying, a slight touch of heat on the back of my throat is the only indication of the 13.1% ABV on this monster. The flavor on this one is truly outstanding, honey, molasses, vanilla, toffee, caramel, wood. This beer turned out to be simply outstanding. To bad there were only 275 bottles made, anyone know where the other 274 bottles are??
