BBVD pours you guessed it. A deep brown almost black color. A two finger tan crater filled head is poured. Great retention. I could of left this beer sit for a few hours and I’m sure the head still would of been there. Spotty lacing throughout.
The smell on this beer is full of burnt roasted malt, dark chocolate, oak, slight amount of coffee, and molasses. Lovely smell and I wanted to just dive right in.
Taste is very robust and a little bit bitter. The huge aroma of roasted malt comes back with a vengeance in the taste. Mixed in their with bitter dark chocolate and coffee. Some oak and vanilla makes a little bit of a appearance but hides in the background. There are also some hops in here that give a nice bit of bitterness. I’m talking like this beer is totally bitter but it’s not. The mixture of the burnt roasted malt and the bitterness duke it out but no one comes on top. Balanced nicely. Sitting at 12.50% abv would make you think the alcohol would take a bigger role in the taste but it doesn’t. Alcohol is there but it isn’t big at all. A feat they pulled out nicely.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 wnoble (637) - French Lick, Indiana, USA - JAN 27, 2012
This one pours black as night with an abundant head. Nose is wood, fruits, caramels, coffee, chocolate tobacco, and toasted nuts. Flavor lends deep roasted malt character and fruity complexities. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy and lends a biting bitter and warming alcoholic finish. Pretty nice stout.

22oz bottle in a snifter. Pours black with a lacy, tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, some chocolate and coffee, light oak, a little alcohol and hops. Flavor about the same with lots of roasted malts. Thick texture. A pretty good beer.

From notes.
Poured strait black with a two finger tan head, nice lacing.
Lots of Choclate, some vanilla, dark fruit, overall pretty sweet, minimal bitterness.
The body was on the full side of medium with fairly light carbonation. Very pleasant.
A very enjoyable stout, well balanced with just enough complexity to keep it interesting without going overboard.
