Fantastic Pils. This is has got to be the best attempt of a Czech Pils I’ve ever tasted. The aroma has that same characteristic as an imported Czech beer, not as overpowering but it was there. But I have yet to taste any other so called Pils to get this aroma, superb. Herbal, floral and a little fruity. Great Linguring Bitterness flavour, although not as spicy but clean. Great melanoidin malt flavour. Well Done!!!

Bottle. A pleasant hop aroma, dark orange in colour, a bit dark for a pilsener, balanced malt taste, with a good hop bitterness on the back palate.

Pours not quite bright, a deep orange amber. Head forms all excited off the pour, a rocky white pad that is well retained to leave good legs as it wanes. Zingy pineapple, honey and gritty big toasted malt nose, quite spicy, with a lot of fresh herbs poking through. Toasted malt start, mildly bready mid-palate before a citrus edged, heavily peppery and herbal backend - nice hopping! Good, assertively bitter peak lets it drop off malty and tangy sweet with a lot more zesty raw hops. The sweetness builds being its only major flaw, the body medium and carbonation quite soft, prickly. Hardly a Pilsner true to type but not that bad a beer overall. My sample is probably a little passed due so I’ll compare this to a fresher sample when it comes along. (33cL, BB 17/08/09, Dan Murphy’s Albany)

330mL. Pour is clear to slightly hazy gold with a medium, ice cream head with good retention and decent lace. Aroma is butter, butterscotch, sweet candies, old orange candies. A little off for a pils. Taste is suddy, drying, sweet candy corn, slight butterscotch/caramel candies. Really just so far off from style. Loved the Wicked Elf Pale Ale but this is falling short.
