COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Big Eddy Russian Imperial Stout was brewed at Leinenkugel’s tiny 10th street brewery in Milwaukee. This brew boasts a selection of 11 malts and grains balanced by three different and distinct hops. Dark and complex, with chocolate tones and notes of dark fruits, it is daring yet delicious. Travels well. Ages well.

Pours thick black, so thick, there were no hues or tints otherwise. Just straight dark black. Head is dark tan and somewhat pillowy. Smells of mocha, cigar smoke, and burnt coffee. Tastes of dark chocolate, two-day old burnt coffee, cigarette ash, and fruity sweet malt. The aftertaste is sweet, lingering, and rich. Tons of flavor. Very rich beer. Awesome job.

Great dark brown brew with beautiful frothy khaki colored cap. Lacing up and down the sides. Licorice, roast, char, tobacco, and minimal chocolate make up the aroma. Taste is of roasted malts, ash, slight coffee with some cocoa mixed about. Not super thick but medium bodied enough for me to enjoy. This was overall a fantastic imperial stout that more than surpassed my expectations. Enjoy!

12 oz bottle shared by Spencer. The pour is a light/medium black with a great darker khaki head and a couple spots of lace as it falls to a ring and thin film. The aroma is good. Lots of roasty malt and a great amount of chocolate. There is a light licorice grab, and it finishes a touch on the hot side. Really good. The flavor is really roasty. There's a great note of roast and a nice licorice. On the back end there is a good amount of licorice but it falls a bit thin. The mouth feel is thin. The soft carbonation helps it feel thicker, but it falls off the tongue pretty quick. The aftertaste is lightly bitter and roasty. Not bad, but it could be way better if it were thicker ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz bottle. Nice, sweet malt aroma. Nice head, with small bubbles. Big taste, licorice, malt, and a little but sweet. Full bodied. Very nice RIS.

This was a pretty solid imperial stout. Big flavors, nice color and head. A bit too much on the sweet side for my changing palate.

From bottle. Pours black with a beige head. Big aroma of roasted malts. Taste is nicely sweet, not too much, with a good hoppiness in there for balance. Delicious and worth drinking again.

12 oz bottle is marked 2012 vintage. Pours an oily black with light barely passing as a maroon hue. Aroma is dark fruit and wet tobacco leaves with the usual coffee and chocolate aspects. Flavor is rich and complex: baker’s chocolate, coffee and fudge with dark cherries and slight spice complexity. Full bodied, moderate carbonation and bittersweet finish.

Bottle (12 oz). 2012 vintage. Pitch black with a medium fully lasting brown head and some lacing. Aoma is of liquorice, raisins, figs, chocolate and roasted malt. Taste is also of liquorice (cloying), moderate sweetness, raisins, chocolate, roasted malt and light bitterness. Medium to full body. Moderate carbonation. Lingering liquorice finish. Lack of balance. Too much liquorice presence. Not easily drinkable, even for an RIS. I wasn’t able to get to half of the bottle.
