UPDATED: FEB 4, 2012 Gorgeous ruby red body under loose off-white head, low carbonation, natural. Brown sugar and rich citrus fruit nose. Wonderful brunt sugar and black cherry opening with an orange spice middle and grassy bitter finish. Very very nice. Medium fill to the palate and oily texture. Excellent beer, excellent!

Can honestly say I’ve never had anything quite like this. Pours deep golden colour with a big fizzy head. Aroma is funky, basement, old cupboard, woody, earthy, with light notes of dark fruit sweetness. The flavour is funky, oak, dark fruit sweetness, touch of manuka honey, hops show up and fade into the finish to balance things out. Not my norm, but very interesting and enjoyable

On tap. It pours hazy reddish orange body with a light and fluffy off-white head. Aroma is funky with berries, esters, yeast and alcohol. Flavor is light funky, fruity, yeast, spices, bubblegum and warming alcohol. Body feels relatively light ath the first sips, but the alcohol and sweetness come out when the beer gets warmer and make it a more heavy. Lots of alcohol in the aftertaste, medium body with medium/low carbonation.

750 ml bottle; 2008 vintage on 3/17/12; slight pop upon opening and pours clear light brown with faint light tan head; some tartness in the nose wih cheesecake, wheat, honey, a little minerally; some funky tartness has formed with the aging; chewy, slightly oxidized texture with some cherry skins, dry lemon, a little brett and bone dry finish; damn good for a 4+ year old bottle; sticky honey malt, chewy funk, bread and silky yeast going down; strong and sweet for a BdG of course and with this much age it drinks like a complex, rich and tasty sour Belgian strong; quite spectacular actually; proof that Lost Abbey knows what they are doing despite the messy wake of the carb issues and the Sinner’s program
Original rating: 750 ml bottle - 2007 vintage; thanks to WestSideThreat for the trade; pours light yellow with slight haze; a funky, bready, wheaty aroma mix with lots of brett characteristics coming from a year in the bottle; there is little sourness in the actual flavors, instead lots of lemon, grass and spice; very soft texture, smooth drinking and wine-like; funky without the tartness; very nice
