COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Vintage 2005"
Our PGR has aged for 24 months on oak barrels and has been bottled for the first time on the 27th of December 2007. The main difference with the Pannepot Reserva is that PGR matured the last ten months on Calvados oak barrels, adding extra complexity to the beer. We dedicate this beer as a tribute to Jeppe & Michael of Ølbutikken in Denmark. Those gentlemen were the first to discover our beers on an International basis back in 2004 and are responsable somehow for our beers being all over the globe since then. As a token of gratitude towards Jeppe & Michael, the first shipment of PGR was scheduled to Ølbutikken so they could be the first to launch its commercialisation.

2008 VIntage. Pours a rich black umber color with a thick frothy khaki colored foam. On the nose its soft and inviting with nice notes of wet wood, herbal earthy spice, dark fruit and a touch of dark bitter chocolate. On the palate its continues with a mysterious complexity and balanced harmony that the nose hints at. Rich flavorful beer with amazing mouthfeel and a real palate pleaser from start to finish. I wish i could have one of these everyday i get home from work it truly is a perfect beer !

June 1st 2015. Birth of my second son and rating #100. Great timing! Very much comparable with the reserva, maybe a little less wineous and sharper. I would have to taste them side by side to make sure of the differences.

Shared 2010, 330ml. bottle poured to snifters at Tim’s 40th, displaying a deep mahogany color, with a presentable layer of brownish tan head foam, and spots & strands of lacing. The nose offered a plethora of notes that seemed to vary after every whiff. Those that I could pin down were a touch of roastiness & light cocoa, caramel, toffee, and treacle sweetness, some floral perfume, esters as dark grape & cherry, a hint of banana, and subtle spices as clove. Medium+ bodied, with soft but appropriate carbonation, the taste incorporated a majority of the aroma notes, continued the melanoidin-like sweetness, offered a bit of tartness, moderate earthy & tannic astringency, and alcohol that was port-like and warming. A highly complex treat that was ideal for the occasion!

0.33 bottle. Very dark brown color and virtually no head. Aroma of oak, chocolate, spices, delicate sugar, hints of toffee, and just as the description suggests - bourbon and calvados. Taste is sweet, malty, delicate bourbon, a slight sting of alcohol, some fruits, once again spices; yet it could be stronger. Medium body, oily texture, and a lively carbonation - the only drawback. Finish is fruitier, sweeter but also sourer, introduces delicate molasses; alcohol hangs on the verge of detectability but otherwise the same as the taste. Overall a marvelous beer; the barrels have imparted a substantial amount of taste and aroma, and I am definitely partial to BA beers.

Pannepot grand reserva ’09 Pours an almost black, dark brown color with ruby red undertones, and a spongy, light brown head. Offers aromas of wood, coconut, toasty malts and earth. On top of that foundation settles peppery clove, sugared lemon peel and cardamon, coated up by melted toffee and a whiff of rock sugar. Reveals way less sweetness than the regular version, together with warm, old oak. Has a lower carbonation with an utmost smooth mouthfeel, complimenting the rich oak flavours. Tastes of wood bark, moldy earth, forest honey and toffee. The beer then gets topped of by melted caramel, slightly burning spices and sweet rock sugar. Offers a gentle alcoholic warmth, blending directly into the well pronounced spices. Ends with rich caramel and more, slightly burning spices on top of the balancing wooden earth. Its low carbonation opens the palate up to many subtle flavors, topped off by the typical, spicy Pannepot sweetness, gently balanced by wood and earth, which is an aspect I do miss, regarding the beers regular version. Its wooden aspect compliments the spices, while revealing a pleasant warmth, with oak, which doesnt turn too present on its own. Its finish turns out to be a bit flat unless the barrel turns up, providing a neccesary earthiness, making the beers appearance complete.

Dark twilight brown, thin tan cusp. Greasy, brassy oak and licks of plum and tinselly oak. Lean brassy, husks of wholemeal soaked in soft balsamic and light caramel flurry. Bit thinner than the previous two stages, but finishes longer brassy and resonating appley tannin with a slushy oak linger. 2010 Vintage. 4.0

Hazier, neater crust of a head. The nose is incredible, baked apple and rustic vingear. Crusty burnt bakewell tart, roasted oak and licks of righteous, hearty mulched apple. Why is this so much more calvadossy than the 5 year younger version! Thinner, no doubt, but a few drops more sweetness on the finish. Linger is bullish and vinious.

Flaske 330ml. Gave fra Rune. Svart. Høyt mokkafaget skum som faller raskt sammen. Forsiktig sjokoladearoma. Silkemyk munnfølelse. Smaken rosiner & svisker. Bra - men lite variasjon. Alkoholen brukbart kamuflert. Litt bunnfall.

UPDATED: MAY 30, 2015 Deep dark pour, almost impenetrable, small tan head. Very inviting aromas of port wine, raisins, oak, leather. The taste is really one to savour - sweet port wine, raisins, dates, plums, with oak tannins and a light smokiness helping to balance the sweetness. Nice warming alcohol. The body is lighter than expected but is probably a good thing, as it helps the sweetness avoid becoming cloying. This is just as memorable and enjoyable as the standard Pannepot. Incredible.

Bottle, 2010 vintage, bottled 2014. Pours black with a cream head. Aroma: wood, prunes, raisins, apples, clove, nutmeg, dates. Taste follows with caramel, syrup, cinnamon, touch of roast. Sweet, but not cloying, nice complementing bitterness, creamy texture, full body, soft carbonation. Lasting finish. Lovely, lovely.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Malty and light spicy, chocoalte, with oak aromas, vanilla. Similar taste. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Very nice beer. I love the original and this is just as good.
