"Vintage 2005"
Our PGR has aged for 24 months on oak barrels and has been bottled for the first time on the 27th of December 2007. The main difference with the Pannepot Reserva is that PGR matured the last ten months on Calvados oak barrels, adding extra complexity to the beer. We dedicate this beer as a tribute to Jeppe & Michael of Ølbutikken in Denmark. Those gentlemen were the first to discover our beers on an International basis back in 2004 and are responsable somehow for our beers being all over the globe since then. As a token of gratitude towards Jeppe & Michael, the first shipment of PGR was scheduled to Ølbutikken so they could be the first to launch its commercialisation.

Pannepot grand reserva vintage 2009. Diep donker aroma van o.a. pruimen, suiker, mout, kandij, peperkoek. Bijna zwart van kleur met caramelachtige schuimkraag. Diepe volle romige smaak die je werkelijk van je sokken blaast. Je proeft echt de eiken vaten. Je wordt warm vanbinnen van dit bier. Echt het beste van het beste !!!

Vintage 2009 bottle from a SAQ import. Pours a real dark colour with red-copper highlights and a mocha head that stays a bit, leaving a little creamy lacing around. Lots of dark fruits (plum, dates, raisin) in the aromas with a roasted malt base, sugars and some notes of anise. Pretty much the same for the taste, but not as sweet as expected. Alcohol very well-hidden, but mouthfeel is kind of wet and boring. Complex overall, but not my cup of tea (or glass of beer).

2009 vintage, 330ml. Thanks to Robertdale. Dark brown. Lots of dark fruit. Raisin, fig, plum. Slight aweetness. Oak. Doesn’t have the banana like Belgian yeast that’s typically a turn off for me with this style. super smooth.

2009 Vintage. From bottle to tulip. Aroma of fig, autumnal harvested grain field, black cherry, candi sugar and sweet bubblegum. Pours a near-black brown with cola highlights. Head is dead brown with minimal lacing. Leaves a slight creaminess across the top. Taste is massive dark fruit and plenty of alcohol warmth. Complex layers of raisin and dried prunes. Moderately high carbonation and a sweetness that lingers deep into the taste.

Dark beer with a beige head. Aroma of ginger cookie, dark fruit, medium sweet, caramel and vanilla. Flavour is very nice and complex, caramel with dark fruits, a bit spicy and some fresh hops (Bottle 33cl 2008)

pours unclear dark brown, burgundy tint, with a creamy light beige head, reviving and leaving nice lacing. sweet and pisy plums, dried raisins and caramel soaked in bourbon, light tennessee banana esters, but also apples, very spicy - mint, cardamom, oak, wood - very astringent, sweetness - demerara. lively to average carbonation, light to medium body - oily, very spicy and tannic finish. good tasty stuff, but i still prefer regular pannepot and pannepeut.

Bottle from Bruges. Poured a really dark brown, near black, with a dense beige head. Massive aroma of big dark malt, Belgian yeast, black pepper, oak, leather and berries. Super smooth mouthfeel. Treacle in the flavour, with roasted malt, fruitbread, liquorice and dark fruit. Finish was dates, some earth, bitter burnt, Christmas pudding, chewy malt and alcohol. One of the best.

Pours dark brown with a white head. Aroma of sour, caramel, malts, hints of oak. Taste is oak, which lingers around in the mouth for quite some time. Malts, caramel, hints of banana and an evident taste of alcohol.

Part of a wonderful day in Bruges sampling Pannepeut, Pannepot, Reserva and Grand Reserva. The Reserva is clearly the best, especially in terms of balance of flavours. All must be tried. The wife thought Pannepeut was second best and really should be sought out more. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
