Dark brown in color with a small khaki head. Not as dark as I like most imperial stouts to be. Chocolate and molasses dominate the aroma. Not much coffee character is present, and I like my coffee beers to be bold with the coffee character. Slightly sweet vanilla character present too. Flavor is milk chocolate, vanilla, hazelnut coffee character comes in mid palate and finishes strong. Small warming sensation in the finish. Medium to full bodied. The coffee and bourbon add a sweet characteristic, and give this a desert coffee feel. This is a sweeter beer, and I’m not a fan of things that are this sweet.

Bottle. 2012. Poured into a tulip glass a dark brown color with a light tan colored head. Coffee is the upfront dominant note but is then balanced with a nice, earthy oaky aroma. Dark chocolate as well. Medium mouthfeel, velvety. The dark roast coffee flavor again takes center stage but is not overbearing. The coffee is then backed by a nice dark chocolate note that then transitions to a slight bourbon flavor. The alcohol is there but isn’t "hot". A nice beer.

2012 bottle to snifter. Pours dark brown black and a little thin with a very quick khaki tight soapy head that fades to a thin collar. Aroma is awesome bitter bakers chocolate and coffee with a smooth scent of bourbon. Taste is much the same, but the chocolate and coffee are dominate with the bourbon showing itself in the end. Palate is full yet thin in feel with a slick oily dry finish. Very nice brew!

On tap at Central Waters anniversary party/bottled offering next day. Pours dark brown with minimal head. Very nutty, green, fresh-roast coffee, light roast malt, and a whisp of bourbon. Smooth roasted malt, nutty coffee, light vanilla sweetness, and a light finish of bourbon - just enough to let you know its there. Residual coffee and toffee. Lightly dry and roasty. Low-level carbonation.

Courtesy of northernbrews. Coffee, vanilla, syrup, light roast, can’t really detect any bourbon. Flavor on par, coffee, vanilla, back end sweetness/crystal malts. Sort of dig it the coffee in this, which is far from the norm for me, but it’s pretty mellow, works well. Silky smooth mouthfeel.
