COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout consistently beats out international stouts in blind tastings and competitions. This intensely black ale carries strong hints of espresso and chocolate. The oatmeal contributes body and ensures a long-lasting mocha-coloured head. If you like stout, you will love St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout.

This pours with an unbelievable colour, blacker than Toby’s a**hole, and a proper head as well. You can just smell the malt wafting up from the glass, with a hint of coffee as well. The taste was every bit as good as it looked. Delicious.

On tap @ Barque Toronto. Poured like black molasses with a huge creamy mocha colored head. Aroma was rich malts and smoke. Taste was roasty, coffee, oats, and semi-sweet chocolate. Full creamy mouthfeel with a mildly bitter, astringent finish. Fantastic stout.

Pitch black pour with creamy head that hangs on throughout. Smells are complex.. Chocolate, oats, sweet. Smooth on the palatte like a milkshake. Taste is two tone. Roasted chocolate and then earthy and creamy.

Very dark in color with a tasty looking frothy delicioius head. Aromas of big roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, burnt malts. Wow, the flavors are of roasted malts, dark chocolate, light smoke, light wood, and some more wow. Velvet on the palate, smooth, light roasted malt aftertaste, slightly bitter. Good good stuff. Would buy again.

Pours a jet black with a fluffy light brown head that lingers. Nose is dry & earthy. Taste is sweet, dry, and oaty. A solid brew indeed. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A strong showing in the oatmeal stout department; malty with strong tones of dark roasting of the oats and barley. Hopping is stronger than in other comparable oatmeal stouts, with a more pronounced bitter, astringent finish. If you’re used to Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout, you’ll find this beer a little more hoppy and bitter, overall, but the comparisons are strong. Delicious!

I use this drink as an archetype with which to rate other stouts. It deserves it. Is there any other beer so beautiful? Perfectly balanced with the roast and hops. As complex as a good imperial stout, just bursting with the flavour I want from an oatmeal stout. Aromas are coffee and chuclate, aftertaste makes you swallow air to belch more. Smooth smooth smooth.

2 finger dirty brown head with some bubles in it. Jet black with mabye a tad little brown at bottom near light. some carbination but not easy to see it. Smell is of roasted peanuts, roasted coffee & chocolate. Taste is a little water,a little sour on the left side for a while,a little bittier tingle on tounge, and what i smell i also taste, roasted nuts, roasted coffee & chocolate. stout & dark beer fan but I can say i had better stouts. Heavy bodied good but i dont think as good as others make claim to but to each there own cheer’s.

341ml bottle. Pours a gorgeous 3/4" thick mocha head. Becomes a playful lace in short order. Aroma is wonderful fudge, nuts and coffee. Body is dark black-chestnut (Lovibond 39/40). Tastes like heaven. I can't do any better than the description... It's velvety perfection. Never had a better beer, let alone a better stout. Not too sweet either!

St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout is probably the best six pack widely available in Toronto area LCBOs. Beer is black in colour with a delicious foamy head. Very rich and complex in flavours, in particular a strong smokey mocha flavour.
