Bottle from Corvallis Brew Supply, courtesy Phil. 2008 Reserve. Pours very dark with little head. Aroma is lots of booze, bourbon, vanilla, sweetness. Body is thin, finish roasty, chocolaty, warming, just a little bit of woodiness. This beer has aged superbly, and was really a treat.

22 ounce bottle poured a black color with aromas of roast, molasses, vanilla, bourbon, and some light cocoa. Flavors are roast, coffee, sweet malt, light vanilla and some booze. A very nice beer that I am glad that I have a reserve so I can crack open at a later time.

Bottle poured a very dark brown color with a thin coat of brown head. Aroma has rich earthy malts, sweet bourbon, molasses, oak, vanilla, and a good snap of heat. Nice and juicy. Mouth feel is medium and there is a nice steady carbonation. Flavor has hefty malt but with little bitterness, sweet bourbon, chocolate, oak, vanilla, and some heat. It is not a huge crusher but it certainly brings plenty of flavor.

I got this bottle from my Secret Santa this year. The pour is very dark with a thick fluffy head on top that leaves quite a bit of lacing. The aroma here is rather nice. Dark fruit and mocha scents are noted first. Bourbon and wood open up as it breathes a few seconds, with some underlying tobacco. The carbonation is lively and seems too high. The flavor uncovers what might be a slight infection. However, that seems more noticeable cold. As this warms, a silky mocha note blends nicely with wood, bourbon, tobacco, and a touch of soy. But there’s no doubt a slightly funky sour note but it doesn’t prevent me from enjoying this. I wouldn’t mind getting ahold of the regular version to compare.

2012 bottle. Smells of dark berries and a bit of booze. Comes off as much like wine as it does beer. Flavor is also vinous, with deep raspberry and plum. Bourbon comes out more as it warms. Probably could use some time.

Dark brown/black color; Medium to heavy creamy body; Aroma of toasted malt, vanilla, & bourbon; Flavor of roasted malt, oak, dark bittersweet chocolate, soy, coffee, and some bourbon; Warm finish with some sour notes; Overall, nice bourbon qualities - but just decent for me.
