4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
11.2 oz bottle into a snifter.
Pours pitch black with a half finger dark tan head. Head recedes to a ring around the edge of the glass and leaves decent lacing.
Aroma of dark fruit; figs and raisins, coffee, and dark roasted malt. Also a little bit of lighter citrus.
The flavor is an amazing mix of fruit and roasted malt. Plenty of dark fruit along with coffee and dark chocolate. Roasted malt is prominent but not close to being overpowering. Some earthy hops also sneak through which is a little odd for a RIS but works really well here. The finish is clean and crisp, not at all sweet and sticky.
This is one of my all-time favorite beers. While it is on the light side for an Imperial Stout, it packs tons of flavor and is incredibly drinkable. I could really have a couple of these in a sitting without tiring of the flavor. A world-class beer.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Jet black body, capped with a thick mocha head. Aromas of coffee, dark chocolate, and brownies. Lighter mouthfeel than expected. I guess less creamy is the way to put it. Flavours are an extension of the aromas, but getting black liquorice as well. A very nice, very flavourful, very drinkable stout.

Bottle From maruhn. Pours pitch black. Smells of liccorice and toffee. Taste like chocolate, toffee and very bitter. Nice imperial stout, but won’t be my daily Drink.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20

So far, it’s my beer-of-choice. Full flavored, dark, but without the bloating and "gut rot" feeling afterwards. Looking to order a case for myself.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours black. Aroma of coffee, fudge, malt loaf and molasses. Roasty flavour with hints of liquorice and vanilla. Light to moderate sweet and bitter. Not as luxurious as the bigger higher abv stouts but enjoyable nonetheless.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Served in a Teku glass from a 330ml bottle. Pours opaque black colour with a thick beige head. Aroma is smoke, caramel, chocolate, bread, malts. Taste is bitter chocolate, molasses, smoke, well hidden sweetness with slightly bitter aftertaste. Medium body with medium to lively carbonation. Very nice stuff (actually reminds me very much of one particular beer from a macro brewery which, funnily enough has scored much lower than this one despite very similar aroma/taste etc. descriptions by the beer connoisseurs... what an irony...)

Wow, for the price. Near black pour with tan head. Aroma and taste are sweet roast malt and chocolate. Good shit.

Bottle, 330 ml , courtesy of and shared with JFK10000. Pours black, small tan head. Roasted malts, chocolate, quite sweet, smooth, easy drinkable for what it is, medium bodied, expected more in that compartment. Overall somehow light for a imperial stout.

Aroma: weaker aroma than other imperial stouts i have tried. Dark bread, cocoa. Appearance: black, clear, brown foam, rocky head. Taste: light sweetness, lightly bitter, medium sourness. Palate: medium body, flat, oily feel, astringent, bitter, long finish.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Love this beer for a change of pace Imperial Stout. Everything about it is standard Imperial Stout as you expect it from England. Well bittered, chocolate, cofee, nutty in aroma and flavor. No-low golding hop character. Lower alcohol than most IS but doesn’t subtract from the enjoyment. The big shine with this brew and all Sam Smiths’ is the amazing yeast character which is a little understated in the IS vs nut brown etc. A winner, never disappointing.
