Great brew with nice oak aged background and subtle coffee flavor. A great brew to enjoy with barbecue. A little age on this one might help to mellow out the booze profile.

pours motor oil thick and black. Huge coffee on the nose, with a touch of chocolate and oaky vanilla. Super thick, tons of deep, roasted coffee, with a nice chocolate tone, and some oak tannin to round it out. Maybe my favorite yeti variation.

Truly a great marriage of espresso and beer; it’s dark, thick, delicious, bitter and some sweetness. Not for everyone; a few people who shared a 22 oz bottle were a bit overwhelmed, but I think it works really well.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 davey101 (490) - Connecticut, USA - MAY 9, 2013
Bottled on: February 12, 2010. 22 oz bottle with gold foil into a DFH signature glass.
A - Pours a jet black body with three fingers of dark mocha foam. Thick edging with solid lacing and retention.
S - Rich milk chocolate, cocoa butter, roasted malts, vanilla and some light bitterness. Oak is there but obviously not as complex as a a barrel. The coffee is definitely faded and about as noticeable as any non coffee stout which develops some of those bean notes via the malts. A bit harsh and boozy on the finish.
T - Rich and decadent chocolate, woody oak, light roast, a touch of vanilla and then faded coffee beans. The oak is very noticeable and quite tasty against the chocolate backbone but the coffee is just an afterthought now. Luckily there is no awkward bitterness from the coffee left over, which is something I’ve found in KBS with a year or two on it. Mouth feel is thick and creamy.
O - Probably a former shell of itself as the large selling point, the espresso, is all but gone. Fortunately the oak shines through and the standard yeti is a delicious chocolate bomb which makes for an outstanding stout with 2.5 years on the clock.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 gramity (1054) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 7, 2013
Thanks to Chris for sharing! Aroma is dominated by espresso and coffee beans. Black in color with a mocha colored foam. Remarkably smooth taste bringing notes of cocoa, oats, espresso and bourbon to the palate. Alcohol is well masked and the finish brings a lingering espresso/mocha. Overall, I’m very impressed. It is added to my short list for coffee beers I love! Now if only I could buy it here to have with my weekend breakfasts.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 OKplus (355) - Oklahoma, USA - MAY 7, 2013
A - Pitch black liquid with a thick mocha head that takes it’s time slowly melting to a stable head. Light does not pierce this turbid brew.
S - Roasted espresso beans enveloped in milk chocolate malt. similar to a crushed whopper. Heavy cocoa powder and slight whiffs of alcohol as it warms.
T - Iced espresso laced with vanilla. Oak is present and provides great rounded vanilla character. Chocolate is darker in the flavor than the nose. Roasted woody grain and a touch of hops on the back end. Finishes with robust coffee and dark chocolate.
M - Full bodied. Smooth and flows silky across the palate. Perfect carbonation.
This is way better than the Oak Aged Yeti and not quite as good as the regular, but it’s close. The oak works harmoniously with the espresso to create a synergistic layer of awesomeness to an already outstanding Impy stout.

Bottle from Total wine sterling. Pours black and thick with a half inch of thick khaki foam. Nice coffee and vanilla notes on the nose. Big malt on the tongue with only a slight alcohol burn on the finish. Solid for style.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 seymour (1099) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - MAY 3, 2013
Sampled at CarterFest 2013 in a tulip glass. It poured an opaque black colour with a thin but persistent brown head and lace. Excellent, true-to-style imperial stout characteristics plus hardwood and tea-like tannins, faint vanilla, and strong dark coffee essence. Well balanced tartness, bordering on acidity, but with a nonetheless smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Medium-full body, low-medium carbonation, complex lingering finish. Very, VERY good.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 tdmuel (80) - South Carolina, USA - APR 30, 2013
Pours pitch black with a fluffy brown head. Amazing aroma, strong roasted coffee, milk chocolate, hazelnut and caramel, there’s some oak, a touch of vanilla and some toasted malt. Lots of coffee on the taste, there’s a good bit of oak and dark fruit as well, some chocolate and caramel. Huge coffee stout, silky smooth and really delicious.
