4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JUN 24, 2012 Bottle #276. 750ml. $26.99 at Premier Gourmet, Buffalo. I’ve been sitting on this bottle a long while now, I hope it’s been worth it. Pours a deep amber with little to no head. Aromas of sour fruit, some funk, very pleasant. The taste is much more sour than I had imagined it would be - this is almost a lambic level sourness. Very tart. Deep and complex. Very little carbonation, and I can’t detect any alcohol... 11%??? Smooth, sour, funky fruit balanced out with just a hint of sweetness. This is an amazing beer, and one for the ages.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours very hazy maroon with dark creme colored head. Rapidly diminishing with no lacing. Aroma is tart, big buttery oaky, fruity, cherry, plum, vinous and vinegar. Flavor is moderately tart, big dried cherry, grape, fruit leather, with a buttery oak finish, vinous, with a lingering tart, oaky aftertaste. Soft carbonation, medium body, and mildly dry, astringent finish. Mildly warm but alcohol is well hidden. Very good.

Nice. Complex. I'm admittedly not a sour guy. But there's something going on here that is exquisite.

Bottle at Hay Merchant. Pours a cloudy brown ruby with small off white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is oak, cherry skin, and brandy. Thin mouthfeel with cherry oak and light tartness in the finish. Very impressive.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle shared by jayhawk73. Thanks man! The beer is ruby to amber in color. The head quickly fades to nil. Sourness, red wine, grape skins, must, earth, tart berries. Complex and delicious. Intense sourness and acetic finish. Bold and assertive. A terrific beer that ages well.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Pours a murky burgundy color with a thin white head that settles to nothing quickly. Aroma is oaky with strong funk and wine tones. Lightly tart, but extremely complex; slight funky red wine and pineapple notes ...oak-wood as well. As amazing as any other version I’ve tried.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Thanks to John for sharing!! Pours Smell is rich fruit, some tartness, leather. Taste is some malt, some oxidation, chocolate cover cherries, sharp tangy fruitiness and a touch of sourness. Body is light plus and about average carbonation. Complex and very interesting despite the 6 years on this bottle.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
I picked up a bottle of this at Chan’s Wine World while I was out in Destin, FL. This beer pours out a cloudy reddish brown with a thin brown head. Aroma is funky and obviously sour. This beer is tart and sour. It has notes of ripe fruit and fine balsamic vinaigrette. I loved this one and I’m glad I had the chance to try it.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
(bottle - 750 ml - 2007 vintage) Muddy copper pour with a thin tan head. Tart and sweet aroma with some caramel hiding in the middle of it all. Some light spice as well. Mild spice at the start of the flavor but there’s still that funky sour taste, still holding up well after six years. Nice acidic finish and very smooth.

Bottle, shared at RBAG 2013. Muddy tawny brown, diminishing creamy off-white head. Intriguing aroma of vinous malts, distinct nutty undertones, some burnt sugars, subtle sourness. Sponge toffee sweetness up front with some background lactic sourness, light cherry, light spice. Smooth mouthfeel, not a hint of the 11% ABV. Mellow, tasty, nice.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
RBAG 2013 from a 750. Murky looking pour, orangey brown, almost no head. Sour and cherry-ish nose with lemons. Taste has caramel, nut, lemon and red wine with some sharpness. A bit of a sour finish that fades out pretty fast. Light carbonation and mouthfeel. Good, but not vibrant, felt a bit faded.
