This just IS gueuze. No two ways about it and a very very nice gueuze at that! As far as the finished product goes, it follows the traditional style to a T. Super mouth puckeringly tart. The tartness reduces as the beer warms. Lots of lemon and earthy country goodness with some back of the through funk. Alcohol is completely hidden. medium bodied. Just outstanding. Its an absolute crime this stuff is so hard to get with cutthroat prices/trade value if you do find an offer. The good news is that there are gueuzes that are just as good that are much more widely available and much cheaper (though I do hear there is a Cantillon/3F shortage in the US at the moment... no worries, Hanssens FTW even when Cantillon/3F are plentiful). Cheers to the folks that created this--the only American’s to create gueuze--and cheers to thebaldwizard aka mojuck for making this beer happen for me. Best of luck on your noble venture my good sir!

Bottle. Pour is a light hazy gold with minimal white head. Aroma is funky lemon sock (which could be a cool band name) with a touch of champagne-like dryness and a touch of barnyard. Flavor is also initially dry with notes of lemon funk, tartness, hay, light earthiness, and a faint herbal quality. Really very good beer. A little light on body but otherwise awesome.

Slight haze, yellow-ish, minimal head, decent lacing. Huge apricot aroma, biting lemon notes, lacto, faint dusty cereal notes. Flavor much the same. Apricot up front, lemon and lacto sourness takes over through middle. Highly attenuated, very dry through finish. Soft/billowy carbonation. Very well done.

UPDATED: DEC 5, 2011 Sampled at the Saint Louis Ratebeer Gathering in a tulip glass. Thanks, Vince, a definite highlight of the night! Poured a hazy orangish straw color with weak white head and some Belgian lace. Aromas of wheat, mild malted grain, spring thaw, and definite lambic fermentation characteristics. Light citrusy wheat beer flavor with layers of unfamiliar subtleties. Tart, sour, crisp, spritzy mouthfeel. Extremely complex, long-lasting aftertaste. Cool collaboration concept. Delicious.

Sampled at the St. Louis RB gathering. It poured a cloudy golden color with a white head. The aroma was both acidic and tart with lemon and oak along with some funk. The flavor was equally tart with lemon, vinegar, some oakiness and some funk. A very good brew.

Sampled at the st. Louis ratebeer gathering. This looks like grapefruit juice. It is dingy golden and cloudy. No head. A vinegar nose with nice appetizing fruit. A big sour bite that quickly becomes spiced and fruit. A bit of sulfur. I am not a sour head but this is really good. Complex, interesting, and smooth.

Bottle shared by STLWill. Thanks a lot Will! Pours clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is white grapes, oak, salt and funk. Flavor is tart, dry, oak, salt, lemon and white grapes. Has a nice light tart and dry finish.
