4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Storm_Warning (28) - Suffolk, ENGLAND - FEB 9, 2012
Currently drinking while typing. Once poured you are hit by an huge skunky aroma of liquorice, coffee, earthiness, alcohol and deep sugars. The appearance is almost pitch black, with a very slight mahogany colour around the edges with a large fresh brown bubbled but creamy fine wound head retention. Huge flavours in this De Molen, massive liquorice notes and huge coffee flavours that primarily hit your tongue. Also laden with caramel, smoke, espresso style strong coffee, earthiness, well hidden alcohol and a powerful ever lasting aftertaste of liquorice and subtle hops. Great feel in the mouth, feels full, perfectly carbonated for the style and not too heavy considering its massive complexion. Great Imperial Stout, I have never been a massive lover of the style but this REALLY excites me! Go get some!
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 JEK69 (34) - FRANCE - FEB 8, 2012
Beautiful pouring. Bubbles coming up and down. High dense yellow foam head. Typical stout’s aromas: cocoa, vanilla and roasted malt.
Creamy, thin bubbles, well controlled bitterness.
Aftertaste: coffee and malt.
Very good Imperial Stout in a classical perfect style.
I love it !
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 BobEvers (82) - NETHERLANDS - FEB 7, 2012
fles 33cl

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 laiti (994) - Tampere, FINLAND - FEB 4, 2012
75 cl bottle (10,2%) @ home. Bottle #278, brewed on 17/18.02.2009, bottled on 20.03.2009, BBE 20.03.2034
Aroma is a bit weird and stale with cocoa and roastiness. Also hints of licorice and hay. Flavour is nice with licorice, some salmiac and roastiness. Very long and nice aftertaste with roastiness, licorice and coffee. Very good stuff. Good as fresh and at age of three years.
4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 Aemjay (25) - DENMARK - FEB 3, 2012
33 cl bottle. Pours black with a lacing light brown head. Intense aroma. The aroma is roasty with alot of chocolate and coffee. Also some sweet notes - maybe some licorice. Taste: The sweetness is really dominant in the beginning and it would be too much if the sweetness was that heavy all the way through. Luckily, the finish is bitter and the taste of alchohol also becomes more powerful. The texture is kind of oily and gives you a thick mouthfeel in the most perfect way. Combined with the soft carbonation it makes the beer really drinkable - makes you want to have another (and maybe then one more).
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 ekoerper (308) - Iowa, USA - FEB 1, 2012
Aroma: lots of chocolate, dark fruit, moderately boozy, roasty and coffee, some vanilla. Pours almost black, not quite opaque, one finger tan head with decent retention for an imperial stout. Flavor: chocolate, lots of chocolate, also plums, currants, coffee, syrup, nice warming alcohol. Fairly bitter, some hints of licorice, vanilla. Medium-full body and medium carbonation. Nice brew.
