4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 rangerred (660) - Johnson City, Tennessee, USA - NOV 4, 2012330ml bottle into a tulip.
Pours a clear deep ruby red with a half finger reddish-tan head. Decent head retention forming a thin cap over the beer but lacing is practically nonexistent.
Aroma is nearly all cherries. Very reminiscent of cherry Kool-Aid. There are some Belgian Lambic undertones, however, with horse blanket and barnyard letting you know this isn’t a soft drink. Really a unique, inviting aroma.
Flavor carries over the characteristics of the aroma with sweet cherry juice along with tartness contributed by the cherries. However underneath the cherry is barnyard funk very typical of a Lambic. This serves to well balance out the fruit and add complexity. While this beer is on the sweet side it never gets cloying and the tartness really helps drinkability. Finish is only slightly sticky and a little drying.
Overall, I am very impressed with this beer and wish I would have opened it up over the summer when it was warmer. The alcohol is nowhere to be found and this is really a guzzler. I really need to seek out some more Krieks and see how this stacks up.

12 oz bottle pours a dark reddy brown. I think it's usually a pinker color but this bottle is around 3 and a half years old. Strong cherry aroma. Lots of cherry flavors balanced against a mild sweetness. My favorite cherry beer.

Bottle at Reading Beer Festival 2013. Cherries with good body, well rounded. A little over sweetened however. Nice cherry aroma, with a hint of ’medicine’. Takes a little syrupy but I still liked it.

On tap at Mayor of Old Town. Ruby reddish-brown appearance. Sweet fruity cherry juice aroma. Similar flavor, lightly tart and light Belgian yeast. Light body with a soft feel and sweet finish. Pretty clean and crisp, hides the ABV well.

Appearance: Pours a dark opaque.
Aroma: Aroma of dark cherry.
Taste: Cherries, sweet, faint tart.
Palate:Medium body, really covers alcohol well.
Summary: Thanks Lauren for letting me take a taste of this beer. A nice fruit beer, fancier than most that I’ve had, and really covers alcohol well...doesn’t even really taste like beer.

From the archives: 0.75l. usually enjoyed in snifter, fills your nose with cherry aromas and loads of yeasty sourness in the taste. One of my favorite fruit beers. Enjoy that after your meal, with some fine cheese and some honey.
