4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
330ml bottle into a tulip.
Pours a clear deep ruby red with a half finger reddish-tan head. Decent head retention forming a thin cap over the beer but lacing is practically nonexistent.
Aroma is nearly all cherries. Very reminiscent of cherry Kool-Aid. There are some Belgian Lambic undertones, however, with horse blanket and barnyard letting you know this isnít a soft drink. Really a unique, inviting aroma.
Flavor carries over the characteristics of the aroma with sweet cherry juice along with tartness contributed by the cherries. However underneath the cherry is barnyard funk very typical of a Lambic. This serves to well balance out the fruit and add complexity. While this beer is on the sweet side it never gets cloying and the tartness really helps drinkability. Finish is only slightly sticky and a little drying.
Overall, I am very impressed with this beer and wish I would have opened it up over the summer when it was warmer. The alcohol is nowhere to be found and this is really a guzzler. I really need to seek out some more Krieks and see how this stacks up.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A sweet red cherry aroma with a hint of banana and thyme, the cherry somewhat like robotasm medicine. A clear red appearance with minor white fuzz and practically no lacing. Taste is a bit like robotasm, but the sourness of this beer actually makes it taste good; the sourness is slightly balanced with some sweetness. Palate is actually very nice, fizzy with the slightest of syrupiness. Overall, good, but not great.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Dark red pour. No lacing or head after pour. Nose is super strong cherry; sweet. Juicy mouthfeel. Dark cherry mouthfeel... very, *very* vaguely of a Robitussin quality. Not bad though. Good tart pucker on end of sip.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a quick dissipating thin frothy white head atop a deep brown body. Nose of maraschino cherries. Oddly sweet and very cherry skin flavour, minor white grape juice. Tastes very unlike beer, more Scandinavian alcohol-pop.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
330 ml bottle bought at Craftissmo in Tsim Sha Tsui East.
Translucent deep ruby red colour; One finger head and pinkish red foam which last about 40 seconds; Good sticky lacing with notable soft carbonation; Aroma of canned cherry, fresh cherry, cherry syrup, hint of kriek lambic, perfume and musty cellar; Nice sweet and potent tart taste of cherry, malt, alcohol, sugar, light wine, light liquorices, lime and very herbal hops; Mid to light body, thin and slick palate; Mouth feel is dominated by sweet and strong cherry liquor forced its way onto the Kasteel Donker, the result is fairly Kriek Lambic-like - sweetness somehow edged over the Kriek sourness, winely but still malty. Donkerís booze remains potent and tastes still very nice. Umm!... Hoppiness is perfume and musty cellar aroma, moderate liquorices led to memorable bitterness as part of the nice taste, and a hopped cherry liquor finish; Wet after taste, very easy to nicely sweet mouth.
Comments: This one is what an ideal beermix should be: an already decent Belgian Brown being mixed with moderate dose of cherry liquor. The result is a beer with nice Kriek characteristics - winey, malty and musty. Cherryís taste is a good balance of sweetness, sourness and hoppiness. Tasting this is like having a nice comfy trip. High-end and convincing. Lovely!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A cherry-red clear beer with a somewhat pink layer of foam. It has the sour smell of "krieken". it also tastes that way, but it leaves some room for some bitterness. The aftertaste is sweet/sour.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Dark reddish brown, with medium slightly pink head. Cherry candy, strawberry jam, cassis soft drink. Touch of maltiness, rye-bread. Taste is very sweet, with a sour touch and slightly bitter finish. Medium bodied, slightly sticky. Drinkable, but tastes more like soft drink or candy than beer.
