4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
330ml bottle into a tulip.
Pours a clear deep ruby red with a half finger reddish-tan head. Decent head retention forming a thin cap over the beer but lacing is practically nonexistent.
Aroma is nearly all cherries. Very reminiscent of cherry Kool-Aid. There are some Belgian Lambic undertones, however, with horse blanket and barnyard letting you know this isn’t a soft drink. Really a unique, inviting aroma.
Flavor carries over the characteristics of the aroma with sweet cherry juice along with tartness contributed by the cherries. However underneath the cherry is barnyard funk very typical of a Lambic. This serves to well balance out the fruit and add complexity. While this beer is on the sweet side it never gets cloying and the tartness really helps drinkability. Finish is only slightly sticky and a little drying.
Overall, I am very impressed with this beer and wish I would have opened it up over the summer when it was warmer. The alcohol is nowhere to be found and this is really a guzzler. I really need to seek out some more Krieks and see how this stacks up.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle (330 ml). Deep red with a small reddish-beige head and little lacing. Aroma is completely dominated by sweet cherries with light alcohol and spices notes. Taste is sweet and the cherries, while still being there, are far less present than in the aroma. There’s also light spices and a touch of alcohol as well as hints of caramel. Medium body (light for the abv). Moderate carbonation. Syrupy mouthfeel. Bland finish. The aroma is quite interesting, but the other features of the beers are artifical and boring. The Kasteel Donker characterics aren’t really present in that one (I don’t know what are the proportions of the blend). Not very tasty and not easily drinkable either.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
I’m certain I’ve had this before, but I apparently never rated it. Jolly rancher cherry aroma. Dark ruby, thin pinkish tan head, good lace. Jolly rancher or airheads cherry flavor. Cripes that is sweet. Light body. Enjoyable, but not terribly beery, and perhaps a little over the top with the sweetness.

Bottle@home. No head. Bordeaux red. Clear. Intens almond cherry notes. Sweet dry fruity notes. Some alcoholic mouthfeel. I am not a fruit beer man.

Une robe rouge rubis comme du vin, une carbo tres faible pas de collet,
Aromes uniquement porte sur la liqueure de cerise.
Assez ronde, a nouveau la dominante cerise ecrase tout. Trop de sucre

Kasteel Rogue (Castle Red) on tap at Record St. Brewing (sweet new place!) in Reno, NV. Brouwerij Van Honsenbrouck also has a pretty sweet website. Poured in a Kasteel "chalice" this beer has a dark ruby-red color and a quickly dissapating light pink head. Leaves little lacing. The aroma is a pretty good mix of sweet and tart, and was mellower than I was expecting, but refreshing. The taste is more on the sweet cherry side, betwen the cherries and the malt/yeast character, but is just tart enough to take notice and provide a little balance. There was a certain cough syrup aspect that I could not neglect to mention, but it was tame, and did not detract much from a solid beer with a great mouthfeel. Maybe I would’ve rated even higher if not for this subtle quality, though. Barely noticeable alcohol presence...8%, really!? Perfect brew for an after dinner sipper. Recomended."

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
330ml bottle served in a Kasteel chalice.
A: Pours a dark and clear color forming a ligh rose color with small retention and very lacings left
S: Very sweet and fruity. Strong notes of cherry syrup
T: Very and too sweet upfront. Again, strong notes of red fruits and mainly cherries. Quite artificial notes of syrup. Some sourness and a mild hoppy bitter end helps to give ir some dignity
M: Medium body and carbonation. Sweet and slightly sour aftertaste
O: Too sweet and syrupy to my taste. Fruit beers, I prefer the drier ones like Cantillons or 3Fonteinens. I do not recommend this one

Red and dark beer, bottle 33cl.
Good aroma, but not the better, well balanced by the great taste of dark cherries and sugar. Got a really nice appearance of dark, red-brown colour. Palate not really relevant.
