Kasteel Rouge is a blend of Kasteel Donker and cherry liquor. The mix of these two excellent products creates an exceptional soft beer with references to the dark mother beer.

330ml bottle into a tulip. Pours a clear deep ruby red with a half finger reddish-tan head. Decent head retention forming a thin cap over the beer but lacing is practically nonexistent. Aroma is nearly all cherries. Very reminiscent of cherry Kool-Aid. There are some Belgian Lambic undertones, however, with horse blanket and barnyard letting you know this isn’t a soft drink. Really a unique, inviting aroma. Flavor carries over the characteristics of the aroma with sweet cherry juice along with tartness contributed by the cherries. However underneath the cherry is barnyard funk very typical of a Lambic. This serves to well balance out the fruit and add complexity. While this beer is on the sweet side it never gets cloying and the tartness really helps drinkability. Finish is only slightly sticky and a little drying. Overall, I am very impressed with this beer and wish I would have opened it up over the summer when it was warmer. The alcohol is nowhere to be found and this is really a guzzler. I really need to seek out some more Krieks and see how this stacks up.

Meget spændende frugt øl. Tilpas med kirsebær i smagen. Frugten overdøver ikke øllet.

on tap at Eulogy in Philadelphia; Belgian ale with cherries and cherry juice; reddish brown color; aroma is pure cherry; really sweet, fruity cherry flavor with just a bit of tartness; almost like a cherry liquor; too sweet in my opinion

F: thin pale beige/pink, quick diminishing. C: dark red to brown, transparent. A: cherry, caramel malt, hint of some fruity sourness. T: great fresh cherry juice, with nice bitter dry long finish, almost no classic hoppy bitterness, hint of wood, medium body, average carbonation, interesting.

Strong cherry aroma when poured, flawless opaque red colour with a pale pink head. While the sweet cherry flavour fills your mouth, the undertones of malt and chocolate keep the sweetness from becoming tart and remind you of the Donker. The peppery aftertaste is both pleasant and refreshing.

330 ml bottle from Club de Cervezas. Pours an opaque crimson color with brownish hues. Small pinkish-gray head with small bubbles leaves a good lacing. I could not feel much beer aroma. Sour cherries, some phenols, cherry liquor. A cherry oveload. Not really a fan. In the taste you feel some beer qualities. Wonderful, delightful tartness dresses up moderate sweetness and a little bit of prickly bitterness. ¡Complex! Different. I like it. Medium to big body and oily texture. Leaves some stickiness in the lips. Maybe not completely a fan of the whole package, but the taste was unexpected and interesting. Approved.
