Bottle at Sean and Rushes, Leicester. Pours cloudy yellow, with a ring of froth. Smells beautiful: lemon, wheat, Belgo yeastiness. Taste is beautifully dry; packed with lemon, which squelches; pockets of pin-prick sweetness. Beautiful mouthfeel. A delightful beer. Really tremendous.

Bottle at Taps Beer Bar, Changkat, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a hazy lit amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is yeast, light citrus, toffee, some alcohol. The flavour is moderate sweet with a big dry yeasty, alcoholic bitter palate and a lingering alcohol bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

11.2 oz. bottle shared by wihorock- thanks again, Ray! Pours a hazy pale gold with a centimeter or so of lasting cream-colored head, bubbly in texture. Plenty of esters, with bready and crackery malts, barnyard funk, cobwebs, and sugars. Light-medium bodied, with moderate to medium carbonation and a dry mouthfeel. No aggressive sweetness or booze, just a dry, easy sipping example of the style. Nice.

Pours a hazy light golden-yellow colour with loads of tiny particles all over. The head is frothy, warm-white, has good retention and thick foamy-creamy lace. Aromas of citrus, Belgian Ale yeast, light spices (pepper) and some nice mild hops. Citrus flavours as well with some light grain, but this is where the hops come alive. Dry bitterness of grass with hints of plastic. Gets sharper as you drink. A hoppier then normal Tripel. Not bad.

Cooled well down since I suspected what was about to happen. Pours golden, merky with plenty of sediments. Quite thick and white head. Good retention. Floral aromas with a hint of alcohol. Tastes both sweet and bitter, simultaneously and I suspect if it was a bit warmer, it would be more bitter. I like some sweetness in my beers so cooling it down was a good idea. Very complex but difficult to really enjoy.

11.2 oz bottle shared by wihorock. Pours a hazy golden color with a small offwhite head. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts with some bready character, hone, light spice, yeast, tthere is some bitterness to this, but overall still too sweet and triples are not my favorite.

Draught at Deep Ellum, 10/23/15.
Good clarity throughout the dull, brassy-gold liquid, with ample carbonation creating a dense, small head with moderate to strong retention.
They cite the hops in this (most bitter tripel in Belgium) and they’re certainly there. But thankfully it’s tons of pepper, nectarine, starfruit and only a touch of peach (no pine). Strong vanilla/honey malts easily still breakthrough and all sorts of peppery phenols play about on the finish with just a touch of alcohol warmth, more yellow fruits and honey. It’s big, it’s bold and yes, there’s some peach and clove, but it’s not obnoxious and the honey, pepper and spicy hop notes are all absolutely charming.
Interestingly enough, I had this side-by-side my friend’s Allagash Trippel. While that beer still defies all of my expectations (bravo to allagash for still putting out the same worldbeating trippel they always have), this beer was no slouch and while different (tons more sweetness and rich malt (big honey, vanilla combining with esters to produce a sweet peach flavor)) it’s still enjoyable in its own right. Ample hop bitterness helps balance as do the peppery phenols. Dries out a good deal on the end with an almost champagne-like yeastiness delivering a good deal of acidity and dry, autolytic-like yeast notes. Great carbonation levels/tightness and a supple, well-malted texture.
