Mutualaid (142) - USA - JAN 1, 2009
Pours a nice murky lemon yellow with a fizzy (surprise) off-white head. Big aromas of citrus, jasmine, and a wheat-like sourness. Vanilla and cardamom with a bit of honey-sweetness up front with alcohol and a bit of floral hops in the middle. Medium body, nice drying finish. A really great beer that isn’t relying on the Methode as a gimmick.

Bottle opened May 2012, expiry date 2006. AROMA: bit of citrus, then dough, bread, hay, finishes with a hints of champagne due to alcohol? APPEARANCE: golden, clear, frothy, white foam, TASTE: medium bitterness, lightly sour, PALATE: incredibly full body, creamy but light almost foam, fizzy, astringent, long finish OVERALL: fantastic beer, the best body combined with many yeast and hops aromas makes this a very good beer.

Al obrir-la sortia molta escuma. Desgraciadament no deu haver estat ben guardada abans d’arribar a les meves mans. De gust però no decepciona. Interessant.

75 cl. bottle sampled @ ZBF 2012 // slightly hazy golden with a white head // muted herbal hops, slight sweet lemon drops, slight fruits & spices // taste is sweet lemon drops, citrus, herbal, sweet candy & dried fruits, lots of yeast (half champagne / half Belgian), honey,… // very lively carbonation, okay / still not terribly existed about Champagne beers

Jan 2010: A free gift from the lovely Rudi from the BierBoom shop and bar in Brugge. Poured into four flutes along with the really expensive Dues (Brut des Flanders) also poured to have a straight comparison. This beer won hands down in all aspects, by far the best Champagne beer I’ve had to date. The beer had a slight mist to it and was a very pale yellow in colour, the pure white head left some good lacing on the glass. The aroma had a pleasant bitter citrus feel. The taste was a mix of peaches and citrus fruits, it had a sweet top and a bitter finish, smooth yet highly carbonated, very champagne in its overal feel in the mouth. Because of the sparkling champagne likeness the alcohol didn’t show at all, very easy to drink. Impressed!

Bottle from Whole Foods P Street in DC. Served in a SAVOR wine glass. Pours a fairly-clear straw-golden color with a nice white head and some good lacing on the way down. The nose brings some pear, melon, and green grapes. Plenty of light fruit and a bit of spice. The flavor continues down the same path, with the fruit in the front. A bit of booze on the back end. Light body with high carbonation and a crisp, clean finish. Quite good.

Kosmokrator (52) - Legnano, ITALY - MAR 19, 2012
UPDATED: MAY 17, 2012 In bottiglia.

(75 cl bottle) Yellowish, pale golden color and hazy, with a big white head. Resinous smell - characteristic of all Malheur beers I have tried so far. Fruity aroma, maybe apricots, green apples and some citrus fruit. And again resin, pine needles or something similar. Lightly bitter, lightly sweet. Fizzy carbonation, alcoholic warming finish. Smooth. Not a beer for every occasion, but well-made and very enjoyable.
