Ingredients: Pale malt; Roasted barley; Oats; Washington Galena, Worcester Fuggles and Kent Goldings hops.
A superb, rich, full-bodied beer derived from a 1970s homebrewing recipe. Wickedly smooth chocolate dominates the flavour, which is nicely balanced by the bitterness of the hops.

Pours a very dark brown/black with big tan head laving a healthy covering and lacing a good ways up the glass. Aromas consist of roasted barley, burnt, chocolate, licorice, smokey, very rich. Flavours consist of strong burnt/roasted malt, coffee, smoke, chocolate, toast, a bitter dry finish. Make sure to let this beer warm up a little, it unlocks the full flavour and aroma.

Aroma is chocolate, roasted malt, coffee and metal. Very fruity and slick palate. Aftertaste is coffee, sweet caramel, some noble hops and lingering sweet roasted malt finish. Overall: what a beer!!! Delicious!!!

Black, small foamy head. Roasted coffee, liquorice, smoke. Medium sweetness, aftertaste has some light bitterness with a sour tinge, too. Semi-full palate. Very pleasant, strong but balanced.

330 ml bottle from Gradi Plato. Very dark brown, difficult to see through, with a nice, creamy and persistent light beige head. I was expecting a much more powerful nose. Still, solid roasted malts presence, definitely chocolate and vanilla, a hint of grain and green coffee beans. Much better in the mouth. Lovely creamy and velvety mouthfeel. So easily drinkable. Moderate but spot on bitterness, a hint of earthy and spicy hops presence. Clean and refined coffee and chocolate aftertaste. Soft to average carbonation, medium body, slightly oily texture. Decent smell, great taste, good beer overall.

Poured an opaque black with a 2 finger head that didn’t stick around long. Aromas of chocolate, dough and roasted malt. Good carbonation you can feel on the tongue. Hints of chocolate, charcoal and bread. Fairly thick with a good mouth feel and a lingering aftertaste. Pretty good overall. Recommended.

One of the few beers that can have almost no aroma and still be taste good. Very mild roast flavor and a really high, sweet twang from bottle-conditioning. After-taste of bitter-chocolate is nice. Probably not worht the $3 buck a bottle price, but a passable ale.

Bottle. Aroma of dark malt and stale hops. Poured with a medoim head which did not persist. Dark brown colour. Initial sweetness blended with highly unusual floating roast flavour which was overwhelmed by bitter aftertaste. Disappointing hop flavour, but good bitterness. Slightly roasty finish, med-dry. Like a good home brewed old.

"pours/looks like a stout. tastes and smells like a cross between a scottish ale and a mild stout. a little bit of chocolate, assertive amount of peety smoke, and some hop bitterness in the finish. feel is full and pretty smooth.
