4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Gusgus (202) - Mölndal, - JUL 16, 2011
Bottle 11/1104, no year on the bottle, but probably -09 or -10.
Initially closed, not very expressive. Candylike sweet aroma, fruits, vanilla, hint of whiskey, but not the astringent ’tequila’-like roughness. Very smooth flavor. Sweet, balance between chocolate, vanilla, custard, citrusy hops. Impressively balanced and drinkable with great complexity.

This poured a darker brown color with a lighter tan head.. Aroma was of strong whiskey, darker chocolate, deep roast, and herbal hops. Flavor was much the same, a good bit of alcohol heat from the whiskey, but nice oak and vanilla character came from this. Suprisingly the strong hops that Yeti always has is still there a bit more than expected, to make this one different than the typical sugar bomb impys.

Pours black into a snifter. Mocha head with little retention recedes to hug rim. Oak, chocolate and rum-soaked pit fruit aromas. Dark rum soaked caramel upfront turning to oak and bourbon in the lasting, dusty finish.

Bottle shared by B3C. Poured a black color with an average to large frothy brown head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted chocolate, coffee and wood bourbon aroma. Medium to heavy bourbon sweet roasted malt flavor with a medium to heavy sweet and small alcohol bite finish of moderate to long duration. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a standout beer.

From a 750ml bottle. Was completely unaware of this particular brew (thought it was just the Oak Aged Yeti, but was proven wrong quickly. Well, the flavor wasn’t all that different than that one, but it was pretty darn good, albeit a bit boozy (but like a good whiskey) for my tastes. Well it poured a near-pitch black color. Aroma has notes of coffee, vanilla. Flavor is boozy whiskey (as I mentioned before) with a bit of burnt, roasted notes.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 burg326 (1112) - Florida, USA - APR 23, 2012
22 ounce bottle that poured jet black, aromas of chocolate, bourbon, earth, dark fruit, vanilla, and oak. Flavors are the same just a ramped up version of the aroma. As I drank, the blackness stains the glass, and made me wanting more.
4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Dfonorow (590) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - APR 15, 2012
Pour is deep red/close to black with a thin ring of a head. Aroma is of oak chips, smores roasting over a campfire, and chocolate. Flavor is hugely malty with some slight hoppiness in the finish. Big whiskey booze notes. Chocolate malts, vanilla, and some slight caramel. Chewy and viscous with mellow carbonation, delicious.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 claaark13 (5) - Indiana, USA - APR 6, 2012 does not count
Smells of sweet malts with the slightest amount of barrel coming towards the end. Really needed to fight to find the barrel. Looks beyond fantastic. Nice rising head that recedes into good retention. Black with fantastic legs. Flavors are of sweet dark malts with a slight roast, light hop backbone and then some non-dominating whiskey in the finish. Good body.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 peteinSD (628) - San Diego, California, USA - APR 1, 2012
’11 bottle from Scott - thanks! Black pour with a dark tan head. Aroma is oak, whiskey, and the tart, fruit notes of an infection - awesome! Taste is dominated by a tart, balsamic note followed by light roast, and whiskey. Kinda reminds me of Lost Abbey Sinner’s ’10 with some whiskey. Pretty enjoyable for an infected beer but not what I had in mind.

pours motor oil black, aroma raisin/dark fruit with strong barrel/whiskey characters. taste is strong whiskey with ripe dark fruit upfront with a smokey finish. Its a great beer but my favorite is still original yeti.

Thanks Daknole!! Nose is huge amounts of raisin with a slight smokey note. Plenty of bourbon/vanilla followed up by chocolate and plum notes. Wow! This is the way I like to see my impy stout - jet black with a dark brown, almost black head. Crazy! It stains the glass with every sip. Sticky and oily mouthfeel. Taste wise, I picked up a lot of sweet raisins, caramel, chocolate, a bit of bourbon, and vanilla. Awesome stuff here. I even got an earthy peanut-like taste from it on the finish as I neared the end of the glass. This is one of my favorite brews of all time. Cheers!!!
