Ale with currants added and aged in oak barrels.

When we made the Toronadoís 20th Anniversary Ale, we had no idea that it would turn out to be one of our favorite barrel aged beers we would ever make. With that said, we have always wanted to make a dark barrel aged beer using 100% Cabernet Sauvignon barrels but, we never were inspired. That is, until we blended five different beers to make the Toronado beer, the tobacco character from the the dark malts blended nicely with the furit character that developed in blending. So, with Concescration we set out to make a barrel beer using all Cabernet Sauvignon barrels. No, we are not saying that this is a replica of the T-rooms anniversary beer, after all, a beer like that can never be duplicated, and, there was no fruit added to that beer as there is with this one. All we are saying is that it gave us great inspiration to brew Consecration.

Pours a deep, opaque brown with a quarter finger of tan head that settles in seconds. Aroma is sour, fruity, with tones of oak and wine. Flavor is moderately sour and fruity up front, stone fruit, blackberry, raspberry, grape. Fades into smooth oak, with tones of wine and alcohol. A very nice level of sourness. Lively carbonation and light body, with a crisp mouthfeel and relatively dry finish. Oak flavors really come out as it warms up. Delicious and refreshing, an amazing sour.

Pours mahogany into a tumbler. Off-white head with little retention recedes to hug rim. Cinnamon, cherry and clove aromas. Tart with dark cherry upfront turning to pith, sour earth and cabernet before the jaw clenching, medium length finish.

Shared 12.68 oz. bottle poured to a snifter showing a lightly hazed, amber highlighted, brown tone, with a modest layer of tan foam, and spots of lacing. The nose was vinous, dark grape & currant. Ditto on the taste, tart & tangy, with a hint of woodiness as cedar. Medium bodied, with decent carbonation, and complementary, tannic bitterness. A treat for us Midwesterners!

Aroma carries the barrels well. Tart sour and wine. Red brown with hazy appearance. Taste is lighter than I thought. Mouth is claggy. Tap

UPDATED: OCT 16, 2016 375ml bottle at home, batch 010816. Balsamic and wine nose. Flavor, interesting balance of sour and dry with a wine influence. sugar sweetness is almost gone.

375ml bottle at Brianís (thx, Brian!). Bottled 08-Jan-2016. Pours a slightly hazy copper with no head. Sour aroma is more intense than Supplication one, brings out some sweetness, tart wine barrels, cherry notes, some balsamic and even alcohol notes. Taste is pretty the same character, quite dry. Amazing beer, but I would prefer it to have more sweetness as for an Imperial version with 10 ABV.

B. 071813 - Cola-candy, forest fruits, vanilla and cherry dominates the aroma. The flavor reminds me of red wine, quite sour, but balanced. Slight allspice, nuts, blackcurrants. A very complex and long lasting finish.
