COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Russian Imperial Stout is dedicated to Gregory Zhukov. Arguably one of World War IIís finest generals and a man bold enough to appreciate the rich, complex flavors of a beer brewed to fortify a body through the Russian winter. Like military geniuses, Russian Imperial Stouts reach their peak with a little age on them, so we release Marshal Zhukovís Russian Imperial Stout in sweltering August so that it will be at peak flavor come January or February. <P> Opaque black in color, the aroma has notes of espresso, chocolate, dark sweet toffee with hints of black strap molasses. The flavor starts with an unsweetened chocolate character and supporting notes of herbal dryness from English hop varietals. It then moves into dark toffee sweetness and closes with a slap of roasty espresso. Zhukovís Imperial Stout pairs well with Mushroom Solyanka, dark chocolate, cherries and ground wars in Russia. Enjoy, comrade.

UPDATED: AUG 30, 2012 Taken from old notes. 2011 batch. Nose of chocolate and dark fruits. Taste is sweet malts then chocolate. Nice hoppy finish that melds into a final chocolate note. Excellent impy. Just had the nitro version today (8/30/12) and it is even better. Creamy texture and mouthfeel makes you want to chew it. Delicious.

750 ml bottle thanks going to Willrunforbeer on this beauty. Bottled on 07/12/2013. Pick black with a crazy oil slick vicarious, oil slick sheen on the top of the stout. Aroma is sherry, brownie batter, thick molasses and mild roasted coffee bean.

The body is thick and oily with a very slick palate. Flavor is pretty rich with molasses, sherry, blended dark fruits, burnt sugars, chocolate tones and a very mild sour hint hiding in the background. Has every aspect of the imperial stout style that I love and for the ABV it was extremely smooth. Real nice.

75cl Bottle from trade with Matt! Pours the classic beautiful pitch black with a dense, almost reddish brown head, that grows slowly when poured. Aroma has lots of sweet and roasted malts, savory, salmiak licorice and dark chocolate. Taste is nice with a lot of sweet and licorice dry/bitter notes up front, turning more roasty and licorice. Some toffee sweetness, and some hard roasted espresso. Slight coffee fruit as well. Lovely full body and medium carbonation. The body and appearance is extremely nice!

Bottle from trade with Matt. Thanks man! Pours pitch bleach with a nice espresso brown head. Easy 5! Aroma is huge with lots of chocolate, cocoa, coffee powder, vanilla, toffee, fudge and some sweet liquorice. Also some roast in there. Really really enjoyable nose on this one! The taste is just smooth and has a nice balance! liquorice, dark chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla, dark caramel and a rather savory end. This is one of those beers which is just balanced and killah tasty, has the looks and has the body! But as a base for Hunahpu - What did you expect? Ofcourse itís a killah!
