4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
12oz. bottle from 99 Bottles in Federal Way, WA. Love the bottle presentation, although the micro-text on these stone offerings is getting to be a bit much for aging eyes. It’s that much worse on a small bottle! Semi-active pour, beige head that fades away fairly quickly and leaves minimal lace. Compelling, spicy nose, with the sage and juniper rising to the front. Spices in the flavor are wonderfully subtle, all perfectly balanced and complementary. Great peppery hop bite on the back of the tongue. Really hides its alcohol well. Just a great brew. I’m going to try to get more for the aging cache.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle thanks to respertFTW. Dark garnet with lots of sediment. All the worst aromas of a gingerbread cookie. More balanced than the smell would indicate.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
12oz bottle, purchased from Woodstock Wine & Cheese in Michigan for $5. Probably 5 years old, but I’ve never had this particular Stone before, and probably won’t ever have a chance. No date found on the bottle. Dark vinous fruity wet papery flavor. Tastes clearly oxidized to me (my friends [who are casually into beer] don’t recognize that though). Dark fruit and wet recycled paper dominates the flavor, and then some spices and sage. Maybe some juniper, but it’s mostly just a general dark fruit flavor. Dark red brown color. Thin off-white head, leaves some loose lace. Bigger body. Kind of slick. Lighter carbonation. Drying finish. Moderate sweet taste. Kind of tangy and spicy. Very light bitterness. Went for this because I’m a ticker and it’s my last opportunity to try it. But it tastes just like a dark fruity oxidized mess, with a touch of minty piney spice.. Not worth it for the beer alone, and it makes me question my ticking habit, really.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Not the winner in a head to head with a variety of beers. From the second release of this beer. I could really pick out the juniper, with a little pine there, and the spices are there, too, but it is somewhat muted. I’m not sure if that’s due to aging...will spices perform similar to hops when aged? Bottle.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
From a 12 oz bottle courtesy of Andrew. Vintage 2008. Pours an opaque dark brown with a tan head. Hoppy nose (despite the age). Flavors of chocolate, spices and some dark cherry. Mellowed by age. Very tasty.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
En øl jeg husker godt, selv om det var før jeg fikk RB-syndromet. Mektig, krydret aroma og smak som fylte hele ganen og vel så det. Husker at jeg brukte mesteparten av kvelden på kune denne ene flasken.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Mahogany red in color... Aroma of cough syrup... Mouthfeel is thick and resiny, notes of nuts, caramel toffee malts, cinnamon and spices on the palate... Thin on the end, but solid overall

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
The aroma is malty, caramel, a little roastiness. Pours dark brown with light brown creamy head, mostly diminishing. The taste is sweet, then a little bitter. The body is medium to full, the texture creamy, the carbonation average and finish smooth. Overall a very good beer!

Simply amazing... Full of vanilla, juniper berry, and also little chocolate in aroma. One of the best holiday ales I’ve ever had.
