3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 larsga (4663) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAY 27, 2012
Medium beige head. Slightly hazy deep amber body. Deep earthy
toffee and chocolate aroma with vanilla fudge, sherry, and
linoleum notes. Sweet-dryish earthy toffee and vanilla fudge
taste with chocolatey alcohol and honey notes. Fullish body.
Mild, soft mouthfeel with slight heat. Dry-sweetish roasty
vanilla fudge aftertaste with chocolate, honey and linoleum
notes. Really nice, but a bit too sweet and perfumy. (0.65l
bottle, Fish & Beer, Copenhagen. Cellared for 1 year.)
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 arminjewell (3108) - Parker, Colorado, USA - MAY 1, 2012
Pour out of 22 oz bottle, dark reddish brown pour with thin to no white head, aroma brought notes of deep toffee, molasses, dark raisin, some slight plastic notes, hints of oak, vanilla in there, touch of slight cocoa powder. Taste is very plasticky, touch of vanilla, slight oak, lots of dark fruits and toffee/molasses, finishing fairly sweet. Eh something is off about this, but there are enough good tastes to help a bit.
2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 adnielsen (3756) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - MAY 1, 2012
Bottle @ Armin’s house. Somewhat cloudy, reddish orange appearance with a small tan head. Somewhat oxidized, toffee, light vanilla, dull flavor hoppy, fairly intense aroma. Fairly boozy, cardboard, plastic, toffee, caramel, bitter floral flavor. Pretty strong.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Palme (1437) - Bergen, NORWAY - APR 23, 2012
0.65l bottle courtesy of Meilby and shared with the Kristiansandsmafia. Never thought I’d get to try this, so big thanks for sharing! The pour on this one is clear dark nutty brown, actually quite lovely looking, and it has a low light sidesticking off-white head. On the aroma it’s lovely sweet and kinda oaky with lots of sticky sweet strawberries, some vanilla-oaky touches and caramel. Feels quite complex and very nice. It has a near creamy-sticky texture with a average small bubbly and quite comfortable carbonation level. The flavors are sweetish, caramely and sticky with sweet consentrated strawberries, vanilla and some rum raisins. Wish I could just pop a bottle and enjoy it over an evening because this was really nice! Again, big big thanks for sharing! 30.03.2012
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 phaleslu (3544) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - APR 18, 2012
22 oz. bottle I bought in Cincinnati back in 2009. Pours a hazy plum-amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel, brown sugar, oak, dark dried fruits, vanilla, and syrup. The flavor is fruitier, with brown sugar, caramel, vanilla, oak, and resin. Medium-full bodied, with a super sweet, syrupy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. I actually liked this one better than the others in the Cuvee Series.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20 drunkenpolack (319) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - FEB 7, 2012
Cuvee 2 pours a dark brown color with ruby red highlights. A good amount of head is poured but quickly fizzes. A very thin layer of head is left. The aroma on this beer is decent and really had me hoping this one was better then the first. Lovely smell of wood hits the nostrils first. A good amount of caramel and vanilla follow that up.
The taste is slightly boozy but not as bad as I thought it would be. This beer is definitely a malt bomb. Looking for any kind of hops in this beer, just don’t bother. The caramel is mixed in nicely with the oak flavors. I also picked up a good amount of dark fruits and vanilla. This brew has many characteristics of a Barleywine. What I didn’t like was the bitterness it gave off. It didn’t taste like the usual bitterness that is given off by a ton of hops but something different. Something I just couldn’t get into.
The mouthfeel is smooth and big. Goes down really nice.
