COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In Mayan mythology, Hun Hunahpu was the father of the Mayan hero twins Hunahpu and Xbalanque. Hun Hunahpu, along with his brother Vucub Hunahpu, was tricked by the Dark Lords of the underworld and slain. Hun Hunahpu’s corpse morphed into a cacao tree, his head becoming a cacao pod, which in typically awesome mythology fashion, spit upon the hand of a young maiden named Xiquic who promptly became pregnant with the hero twins. The twins would ultimately grow up to avenge their father and uncle and defeat the Dark Lords and ascend the heavens to become the moon and sun. We brew Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout once a year and release it only at the brewery. We will continue to do so until the end of the cycle. Released on the second Saturday in March at the brewery.

Bottle. Pours a pitch black color with a really dark brown head. The aroma is of vanilla, fudge, chocolate, cocoa, gingerbread, coffee, roasted malt, dark fruits, molasses and lots of nice deserty aromas. Flavors is as amazing as the aroma, it really reminds me of gingerbread, with honey and ginger and cinnamon spice notes, vanilla, dark and sweet chocolate notes, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, fudge, dark fruits and molasses, with a hint of the chili that evolves the more you sip in it. The body is full with a nice sticky and creamy mouth feel. Overall an amazing and different Imperial Stout, I really want to try this BA!

The best beer I have ever had. Pours pitch black with small dark brown head. Aromas of malt and chocolate and coffee. Thick mouth feel. Flavors of the same thing with a little smokeyness at the finish. Little booze but not much.

Sampled at GABF 2014. Black pour with virtually no head. Aroma of coffee and what appears to be cinnamon. Incredible taste of coffee, brown sugar, dark chocolate, and cinnamon. Lingering bitter finish with some warmth. Unique, incredible, and worth the hype.

On tap at GABF 2014. Appearance: slight brown head, black color, Aroma: prune, roast, chocolate, mat and molasses. Palate: full body, oily texture, soft carbonation, light dry finish, Taste: sweet malt into a very nice fruit taste, coming back to a chocolate sweetness and dark chocolate bitter finish. Overall, the smoothness of taste transitions are amazing, the balance is superb, absolutely love this beer! Lives up to all the hype. Maybe my new favorite for the style.

"i’ll start by saying this is a great stout. if it were local and at a reasonable price, i’d get it all the time. it’s unique. it’s tasty. the head on my wife’s glass did not BUDGE til her glass was at more than a 45 degree angle! that was cool. i do, however, prefer the BASE of this beer (Marshal Zhukov’s) to this. The added vanilla, cinnamon, cocoa and peppers took away from the Russian part of it, and while very good, was not as spectacular as the original brew. the peppers only made their presence known upon popping the top, then did not make another appearance. the cocoa, cinnamon, and vanilla were obvious throughout. present, but not overdone, and the body was amazing, as expected. Smells and tastes like cinnamon raisin bread, brownies, brown sugar, and malty stout.
