On tap. Pours with a black body with a large tan head. Aromas are of espresso, brown sugar, roast and nutty some chocolate. Mostly all malt aromas, medium coffee, clean otherwise. Flavors are of vanilla, esters, floral, dark chocolate. Espresso character isn’t extremely strong, but it is a rich coffee flavor. Medium bubbles, thinner bodied, dry.

Tap at Captain Lawrence event - sweet candy with dark malts, light chocolate and espresso roast. Very dry with some peaty, earthy notes. Piney hops and a touch of sourness.

From a growler at the brewery. Pours a very dark, yet somehow opaque black. About an inch of creamy brown head. Nice dark woody aroma with plenty of espresso in there. Mouthfeel is excellent. Neither heavy nor light. Very porter-like, which is perfect for a non-imperial (i.e. regular stout). Taste is full of coffee, wood, burnt roast. It’s very powerful at the beginning but you can definitely taste the individual flavors after a few sipps. Over all a real solid stout. I also really like the fact that it’s only 6% and not 8-9%+ so I can enjoy a few. I wish I drank mine quicker, as it’s been sitting in the growler for a few weeks, but still darn good.

Pours jet black with an inch of light brown head which rapidly disappears and doesn’t leave a lot of lacing. Pungent espresso on the nose and on the tongue. A bit overpowering really and the finish leaves behind this strange slimy residue.

Very strong roasted coffee flavors, bitter hop flavors, tons of coffee on nose, sweetness on palate very good beer

Growler thanks to alfrantzell. Dark brown in color with a one finger tan head that fades to bubbles and swirls. The aroma has nice coffee to it along with charcoal and dark chocolate. On the flavor though some of the not-so-good aspects of the coffee come through. Slight sourness and excessive charcoal dominate. The palate is a bit astringent with thinner body and average carbonation. This is paradoxically both good and bad at the same time, if that makes any sense at all.

Tap at Blind Tiger. Dark brown with a bit of tan head. Nice espresso aroma with some roasted malt. Dry, more coffee and espresso taste. Light coffee bitterness on the finish. Flavorful and enjoyable.

Poured into a tulip. Appearan is near black with a mocha head and some slight lacing. Nose brings espresso, coffee, and then some espresso. A touch of roast in there separate from the coffee. Taste is more coffee. Feel is nice and roasty with a good body. Another very tasty coffee stout.
