COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned;
Bracia is the Celtic name for a beverage brewed in Iron Age Europe with reference found on a Roman inscription at Haddon Hall,Derbyshire. Little is known about this except it was high in alcohol, brewed with cereals and, most probably, honey. Thornbridge’s Bracia has been infused with a generous amount of dark and bitter Chestnut Honey. This was sourced by Head Brewer Stefano Cossi from Beekeeper Onelia Pin in the Alpine foothills of North East Italy. Aromas are of chestnut, honey, cappuccino, white chocolate, dark fruits, vibrant fresh peel. The mouthfeel is velvety and rich, with notes of coffee, chocolate, liquorice and hazelnuts with warming alcohol, cocoa and a little peat in the finish. Malts: Maris Otter, Brown, Munich, Dark Crystal, Black, Chocolate, Peated and Roasted Barley. Hops: Target, Pioneer, Hallertau Northern Brewer and Sorachi Ace. Bracia can be cellared for up to one year, maybe longer. Its flavours will evolve so why not enjoy the experience of opening a bottle every once in a while.

UPDATED: JUL 1, 2016 Bottle in wine glass. I was surprised by how dark this is. Like a porter. The aroma is slight with licorice and hops coming through quite strong on the palate. The high ABV burns nicely with the heavy bitterness refreshing yet dark malt base. Great beer, that?s for sure.

Piana beżowa, sycząca, grubo oczkowa, szybko opada do firanki. Barwa ciemno brązowo rubinowa, nieprzejrzysta. Aromat nietuzinkowy i nieczęsto spotykany - głównie czuć tu miód, ale ciemny miód gryczany najwyższej jakości, melasę, świeże figi, rodzynki, bardzo wyraźny wosk pszczeli... W smaku fajna słodycz suszonych owoców przechodzi w całkiem sporą goryczkę migdałowo orzechową, przyjemną, następnie pojawia się palony karmel, toffi, wiśnie, marcepan w mlecznej czekoladzie, a całość spina likier kawowy. Gdzieś w afterteasie są też nuty winne, porto, sherry... Wysycenie średnie do niskiego, drobne, przyjemnie kremowa, gładka konsystencja.

Pours deep mahogany tinged brown into a snifter. Mocha head with little retention recedes to hug rim. Licorice and soy aromas. Thick with dark caramel, licorice and soy upfront turning to rich mocha in the warm, lasting finish.

deep dark brown colour with some ruby notes, medium sized creamy beige head; aroma of chocolate, dried berries, raisins, some honey, red wine, roasted sugar, herbal notes and hints of smoke; taste of dark chocolate, berries, raisins, herbal liqueur notes and hints of orange peel oils and grapefruit; really good beer!

Real nice, I probably payed a bit too much for it, but oh well. Alcohol was well masked and the honey distinguished it a bit but wasn’t too obvious. Reminds me of Old Rasputin.

Wow, this is a new, great beer I hadn’t had before. Being a ticker pays off sometimes, when other clowns are all up in Safeway grabbing their 200th six pack of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. 500ml bottle pours black in color with a one finger brown head that leaves thick lacing on the glass. The aroma is so big & rich that you expect to hear "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" coming from it. Nutty and chocolatey with espresso, vinous dark fruit notes, honey, anise, and smoke. The flavor starts with sweet molasses, syrup, and semisweet dark chocolate, goes through overripe dark fruits, prunes and plums, and finishes with a peaty, smoky scotchy finish. Significant bitter hoppiness on the finish. Wow. The closest thing I’ve ever had to this is Hair of the Dog Adam, which it goes without saying is amazeballs. Medium-plus bodied, not overly syrupy. Overall a really phenomenal, refined beer. Best English beer evs? Maybe.

(MA 13.03.20) (1769-100316)
