4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Tasted from the bottle at Kelly Ryan’s Thornbridge Tasting at the Malthouse. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about this beer since I tried it. Undoubtedly the best honey beer I have ever had. A massive rich full complex aroma of dark chocolate, espresso, spicy deep heat, resinous rose petal notes, warm nutty chestnut, a touch of Christmas spice and toffee malt. In the mouth the beer rich with the perfect balance of chocolate roast malt, nutty flavours, chestnut but also hazelnut and almond, floral esters and a rich solid malt backbone. I wish I had a couple of cases of this in the cellar!

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Rating 1000. Bottle. Pours a deep dark brown body with a medium sized tan head. Aroma has honey and sweet perfume with hints of springtime forest. Lovely. Very thick body. Taste has dark malts with something lightly sourish and vinous like white grapes that have just started to ferment. Later hints of honey, raw hazelnuts and some hops that I’m not used to finding in dark beers. This is a bold and wonderfully complex dark beer with so much to explore.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Rated on 5-09-2011. This bottled beer has a medium sized semi-frothy, very fizzy, very bubbly light brown head that mostly diminishes, opaque dark brown body and no lacing. The aroma is black malt, licorice, chocolate, hops, sweet, honey, and some alcohol. The taste is sweet, rich, malt, hops, chocolate, licorice, and spice. The mouthfeel is very tingly and this beer is medium bodied. This is a sipping beer with a very rich flavor. It is somewhat of a complex beer but very worth trying and a beer I would enjoy drinking again and again.

Swietne tradycyjne brytyjskie ciemne ale. Z brazowawa piana, czarnym nieprzezroczystym kolorem, W smaku ciemna czekolada, kakao na mleku nieco wanilli i miod. Zapach jakby capucino z orzechami laskowymi. Niebywale wrazenia. alkohol ukryty, niewyczuwalny, a przeciez jest w poteznej dawce. Wspaniale zbalansowane. Cos pomiedzy imperial stoutem, a mik stoutem. Takie mialem wrazenia. To najlepsze piwo od Thornbridge jakie kosztowalem. Polecam

Sammetslen Ale med brända toner och kaffearom, känner lite lakrits som smyger i bakgrunden. Ljusbrun skumkrona som försvann ganska snabbt.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Black, with brown head that does not last long. Aroma is dark chocolate, heavy roasted, raisin, some alcohol (does not disturb), some peat (especially on the finish), a little bit of honey when warmed. Not sweet, but not very bitter as well. Overall, tasted like an Imperial Stout. Good one.
