4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 OStreetBrewery (120) - Wellington, - FEB 12, 2010
Tasted from the bottle at Kelly Ryan’s Thornbridge Tasting at the Malthouse. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about this beer since I tried it. Undoubtedly the best honey beer I have ever had. A massive rich full complex aroma of dark chocolate, espresso, spicy deep heat, resinous rose petal notes, warm nutty chestnut, a touch of Christmas spice and toffee malt. In the mouth the beer rich with the perfect balance of chocolate roast malt, nutty flavours, chestnut but also hazelnut and almond, floral esters and a rich solid malt backbone. I wish I had a couple of cases of this in the cellar!
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 jackl (737) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 27, 2012
Bottle @ The Euston Tap. Can’t believe I hadn’t rated this! Deep reddish brown color with a medium tan head. The nose is deep cherry, light smoke, plenty of oak wood. Hints of whiskey, chocolate, and roasted coffee. The taste is nicely nutty, with accents of soft, sweet honey and more cherries, nice bouncy full malty body. Sugary and playful bubblegum. Coffee and earthy dirt. Light chocolate and toasted grain. A bit hot and fat. Soft carbonation. Overall, a fantastic beer.

Pours a viscous, thick black with sweet nose, sticky rich, sweet sugar, molasses and honey body. A touch of smoke and roast barley at the back. Proper dessert beer/ digestif. Fantastically complex, should have got a second bottle.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 teorn88 (740) - Rimini, ITALY - MAY 19, 2012
50cl bottle. Pours a dark brown / almost black colour with a huge brown head. Creamy lasting foam. Aroma is coffee upfront. Loads of espresso notes, then wood, honey, and some whiskey hints. Taste is sweetish upfront with hints of honey and cappuccino. Then a roasty bitterness comes through, with coffe beans and wood. Finish is bitterish with some booze. Texture is oily and thick and carbonation is good, nice for a 10% ABV beer. Overall, complexity and balance are the main highlights here, and make a superb beer. Highly suggested if you like coffee.

Very dark with a creamy light brown head.
Aroma: leather, some smoke/cigar, old library, roasted, earthy.
Taste: chocolate, salt, leather, honey, licorice, a cellar earthiness, and something towards liqueur.
Full-bodied, smooth.
Very nice and quite different, in some ways reminds me of Mikkeller Black Tie.

Bottle: Poured a dark brown color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma consists of dry fruits with dry toffee notes are quite unique and quite strong. Taste is a strange mix between some dry toffee notes with caramel malt with some molasses notes with some light fruity ester and some chestnut. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very complex beer with maybe a tad too much going on.
