5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
maybe the best imperial stout i’ve ever had. looks like an ordinary impy, smells a bit better, sweet and roasty with a coffee chocolate inviting scent that is a fucking joy. smells like motherfucking s’mores. damn. i can taste the alcohol with the mellow dark chocolate, and it is good, roast is just right with a warm half finished cup of coffee with vanilla and whiskey. straight forward clean and delicious. right amount of sweetness, right amount of roast, right amount of bitter, this beer is all the right shit, and if the description is correct is not a kitchen sink beer, maybe more folks should streamline their recipes. i’m glad whoever designed this one did.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Rated on 5-10-2010 (Bottle - Batch 210 - Brewed 20. 01. 09) This beer pours a medium sized very fizzy cocoa head, opaque black body, and no lacing. The aroma is malty, burnt, roasty, chocolate, alcohol, dark fruits, and hops. The taste is fruity, malty, chocolate, roasty, alcohol, and hops. The palate has a burning effect at the back of my throat. This beer is medium bodied. Overall, this is a sipping beer, worth trying, and a beer I would drink again.

Nice solid Imperial Stout, nothing too crazy. Great color from the pour into the tulip glass, lovely aroma of dark chocolate, coffee beans, roasted nuts. Taste was very similar, a little bitter like dark chocolate but the finish was very smooth.

Pretty standard imperial stout, starts out chocolate, fades into bitter coffee, a little bit of booze behind it. Good beer.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours very dark, almost ink black with some espresso swirl head with a retained ring on the edge of the glass leaving spots of lace here and there.
The aroma is rich, roasty, & sweet smelling. It’s got a touch of ashiness and the faintest hints of smoke. Some mild hop fruitiness, some espresso, and plenty of chocolaty character provide a complex but tightly woven and perfectly harmonious bouquet.
The flavor is roasty through and through using just enough balance and restraint to pull it off at that level. The beer has some ashiness & dark fruit but both of these are at a pretty tame presence all together. The beer is satisfyingly better with a nice level of sweetness and a nuttiness that grows and grows as the beer warms. The big alcohol is pretty well concealed, but it does provide a warming sensation to the flavor that works just right here.
The beer is mouth coating, but still drinkable & never overly heavy feeling.
