UPDATED: JAN 31, 2012 Bottle; Pour is oily dark brown/black with a fine bubbled khaki head on the average side, with some mild lacing in this snifter. The nose on this one was ridiculous; bourbon, chocolate malts, maple syrup..... brown sugars.... licorice. Fuck yes... this is fantastic. The flavor profile morphs like perhaps no beer Iíve ever had. A different tasting note keeps cropping up through the temperature process. Here goes ; roast (coffee beans), cocoa, licorice, anise, smoke, maple syrup, dark chocolate, and brown sugar. Surprisingly.. itís not as thick as I was expecting... drinkable as hell with that said. Wow.

Draft pour at Founders taproom. Yep, this is a faultless beer. Top to bottom, lives up to the hype and then some. As this stout warms up many layers are revealed, with a great interplay between the dark chocolate, coffee and bourbon notes with a delicate yet pertinent maple syrup sweetness that brings this all together. There are touches of caramel and vanilla that open up during warming. Nothing is overwhelmed here, all pieces add up to an exceptional barrel aged stout. Deep dark in color with a thin tan head, the nose invites you in to enjoy this one of a kind beer. Perhaps the greatest beer I have ever enjoyed.

[6624-20140815] Bottle. Sweet roasted grains aroma has a hint of spices. Black cola brown body with a quick foamy tan head. Minty chocolate roasted grains flavour has a weird liqueur thing. Full body. Glad to try but a bit odd. (7/3/7/4/14) 3.5

8 oz pour on draft. The Canadian Breakfast stout pours The aroma is rich chocolate, woods, maple and a hint of vanilla. The flavor is very sweet with the chocolate and woods shining through initially and vanilla and maple syrup on the back end. The maple syrup is evident well into the aftetaste. Overall this is an amazing beer. If you find this beer you should have it.

On tap at the Founders tap takeover at Coopers in Madison. Poured thinner than I thought it would. Dark body with a creamy head. Sweet caramel aroma. Not much coffee smell. Sticky sweet taste. Lots of maple. Very smooth. Never really had a beer like this. Some chocolate and coffee tastes. Very delicious!!!!

On tap - review from memory of earlier this afternoon. Taste is maple syrup, rich chocolate, some alcohol in the background. Love the maple and chocolate, very nicely balanced flavor. Very smooth, full bodied. Starts a bit sweet, but dryness takes over quickly. Finishes extremely dry. (Seriously. Maybe it was just me, but I walked away from that pour with full-blown cotton mouth. Iíve never experienced anything like that before with beer.)
