Maple bourbon roast aroma. Vivid. Exactly how you want an imperial stout to look. Black and dark beige head. Lacing like a boss. Taste is just wow wow wow. Chocolate bourbon candy with some barrel beginning to show through. This is heavenly. No booze, but I wish I drank it fresher.

My 800th rating! On tap at the brewery. A dark brown almost black pour. Very oily dark head that settles into a bubbles mocha colored top. Heavy maple soaked bourbon aroma. A rich coffee flavor upfront. A syrupy thickness follows with a blast of sweet maple. Very rich and yet sweet. A slight slight bourbon alcohol burn as it goes down. A warming nice stout. Good stuff.

This is one of those beers I’ve wanted to try for a long time, and I kinda figured if I was patient then eventually it would turn up at a tasting or something like that. I did not expect to find it on tap basically in my back yard. What a time to be alive...So, anyway, it’s black, with a very dense brown head. Smells like bourbon and coffee, with a pronounced red wine note. Also, a lot of very dark chocolate, almost like baker’s chocolate. Taste is bourbon / vanilla, with a healthy dose of dark chocolate and coffee. As it warms, a nice maple note emerges. All of the flavors really work together without becoming a mushy mess, as well. Really nice...

Aroma of roasted malt, bourbon, oak and vanilla. Taste is the same. Get some maple syrup like flavors, but mostly bourbon. Really smooth stout with a slight sweet finish. From my memory of KBS this is slightly more boozy, but still a great great beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aromas of bourbon, maple, vanilla, caramel. Black with a mostly lasting chocolate brown head. Somewhat sweet upfront, nice subtle roasty elements, maple comes through more prominently in the flavor profile. Full bodied, very smooth.

Chocolate aroma with coffee and a little booze, flavor is very sweet whisky and maple.. A lit of coffee coming through... Doesn’t stack up with some if the other of the top imperial stouts in my opinion...pretty good though

Tap at Founders. Black pour with a small creamy head that fades to a nice film with a ring. Complex aroma of moderate bourbon, lots of oak, mild milk chocolate, mint, light maple, and a hint of coffee. Tastes just slightly sweet and so smooth. Perfect balance of flavors. Chocolate, coffee, maple, and bourbon mostly. Some dark fruit and red grapes show up in the finish, especially after warming a bit. Incredible mouthfeel. Smooth and creamy with an ultra soft carbonation. Incredible beer. Not up there with my favorites but I can see why it would be for some.

Aroma of chocolate, nutella, clay, grape skittles and grape jam. Giant caramel foam head, genius lace, deep dark brown appearance. Taste is more chocolate than chocolate - wow! Dry chocolate powder, a touch of grape, balanced chocolate bitterness with sweet japanese black coffee. A little watery but still fizzy. One of the best beers I have ever had.

Tap. Pitch black. Beautiful tan head. Nice lacing. Mild nose of coffee and booze. Succuent, smooth body. Perfect balance of boozy, rich chocolate, mild maple. Like an eminently drinkable beer, despite its punch.

Draft - dark black pour. Maple, coffee, bourbon, and oak in the nose. Chocolate and coffee with maple syrup, vanilla, and bourbon. It’s really tasty. I had two glasses and I rarely do that.

On draft at Reds Alehouse. Upon some good, advice, I took an initial sip then waited a long while for it to warm up. The warmer this beer got, the more I liked it. Smells and tastes a lot like KBS, with a deep sweetness that doesn’t always stand out as maple. I was expecting stronger maple flavor here, but for the most part this is a balanced, nuance take on KBS.
