UPDATED: MAY 5, 2012 A - pours super deep dark almost pitch black mahogany. High fluffy coffee head that last. S - aromas of bourbon, coffee and vanilla up front. Silky smooth and rich. Notes of molasses, oak, and alcohol as well. Fantastic. M - very nice rich full bodied full strong complex. Each flavor and tone floats right to the next. Complex and subtle. Strong flavors that don’t ever over power. A great beer. A smooth rich end that lasts. T - honey, molasses, rich oaky burbon, and maple up front, these slowly meld to very slightly bitter burned malts, coffee grounds, rich chocolate and dry oak barrel on the palate. Long lingering toasted coconut, slight marshmallow, coffee and strong vanilla to end. O - an amazing beer. Complex, subtle, rich ( perhaps a bit richer would help) and so well composed. 9

Growler with huge thanks to Ben/Chandler. 2/28/15. Nearly headless almost black pour with ruby highlights. Aroma is over the top sweet decadence. Candy, marshmallow, sickeningly sweet, maple syrup with extra molasses for good measure. Tastes big and chocolatey. Surprisingly smooth, without any alcohol harshness. Definitely prefer this to kbs. Not at all balanced, but that’s not what you’re looking for with a beer like this, right? Full body, soft carb. Overall: a treat.

Draft. Pours black. Aroma and taste are amazing: bourbon, sweet maple syrup, chocolate, and coffee.

On tap at Pours pitch black with a thin tan head with some lacing. Aroma is of coffee, bourbon, sweet malts, caramel, molasses, smoked wood, brown sugar, and very faint booze. Taste is coffee, bourbon, butterscotch, sweet malts, smoked wood notes, molasses, brown sugar, light maple, and maybe some light vanilla. Has a medium-full body with a creamy, velvety, semi bitter, long-lingering, slightly warming but not boozy finish. Overall, excellent world class stout that is incredibly smooth and easy drinking for a 10.6 abv imperial stout and amazingly has no noticeable booze in the taste.

Had on tap at Clark street ale house 2x in one week, what a treat. Absolutely love this beer. All the wonderful things about KBS, plus this fantastically well done finish that is sweet without being too syrupy. This is an all time favorite, and I've had a big stout kick this season trying every stout I could fine, well done founders! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

double sampler that poured a pitch black motor oil thick imperial stout with darkish head. the aroma is straight up deep roasted malts with coffee and chocolate and bourbon and vanilla and oak and maple syrup. this was better than I ever anticipated. absolutely glorious in all respects. the flavor is much more of the same as the nose was. sticky oily lacing. one of the best ever. not enough O’s in smooooth on this one.

EBF Boston mars 2015.

Woah... for the first time in a while, this lived up to what I thought it would. Great flavors that are exactly as advertised... Coffee, Chocolate...maple sweetness. Awesome. Need more!

Fût @ Brass Tap Naples. Brune-noire opaque.

thanks fletchwad Poured a dark brown color with a large frothy brown head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted dark chocolate, vanilla, woody and alcohol aroma. Heavy bittersweet roasted sweet malty flavor with a heavy bittersweet and small alcohol bite finish of long duration. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation.

Deep opaque black, slight brownish tinge. Almost nor head, slight tan. Sweet, I’d venture to say maple. Light vanilla, some amount of cinammon spiciness. Light roasted coffee notes. A touch of berry. A touch of bitterness, big sweetness. A good bit of alcohol upfront, quite heavy, decent amount of effervescence. Long finish. Really nice.
