Bomber shared with my brother and nephew. Inky black, motor oil pour with a substantial, rocky brown head and excellent sticky lace. The huge espresso and dark chocolate aromas of the regular Boris are there, with the addition of an unmistakable and bourbon and vanilla character, but not much "oakiness" to speak of. Thick, chewy, oily mouthfeel with very gentle carbonation and a pleasing warmth. Very little bitterness, just enough to balance all the malty goodness that lingers on the palate. I suppose it’s all a matter of personal preference as to whether this is better than the standard Boris, but I sure liked it.

Bottle, received as an extra in a trade. Deep brown with a small khaki head. Aroma of rich fudge cake. Toffee and booze. Burnt brown sugar. Decadent chocolate dessert all over this. Flavor is marked by whiskey, wood. Boozy heat. Ashy roast malt. Fudge. Nice and supple. Viscous. Good stuff.

"Barrel influence really nice in this one. Takes any rough edges of the regular Boris, already a great brew. Chocolate, vanilla, roast, dark fruit, raisins, bourbon. Balanced. Thick. Delicious."

UPDATED: SEP 20, 2014 Black with creamy reddish head. Aroma is loads of whiskey, wood, vanilla and leather. Full and smooth palate with low carbonation. Aftertaste is whiskey, roasted, leather and some lingering chocolate notes. Overall: wow! What a beer! Silky smooth imperial stout wannabe.

Tap at CBC 2014. Beer in the glass deep black, small head. Starts heavy malty, woody, spicy, notes of pepper. More and more earthy malty. Warming-malty finish. Nice!

Bottle from Hop City, Atlanta. Pours a dark brown/black. Nos roasty chocolate, oatmeal. Big and lovely. Body fluid, soy sauce bites hard booze, roasted to the max. Woof! I can dig it but this is intense.

22oz bottle pours dark rich black brown with thin tan head. Nose is big roasty dark fruity bourbon, raisin, peanut, bitter dark chocolate. Taste is super smooth creamy mouthfeel, nutty bitter chocolate, vanilla notes, peant butter chocolate, raisin, dark fruity balanced bourbon. Finish is bitter sticky semi sweet boozy spice chocolate nut bar and cocoa. Great stuff.

Small taster at Zeebra Festival. Another totally black beer with a thin dark brown head, average retention, light lacing on the glass. Aroma has lots of bourbon and wood, alcohol, light vanilla, a bit of oats. Taste of dark roasted malts, bourbon, ash, wood, light vanilla, some chocolate. Medium thick body with good carbonation, sticky but also very dry palate. Overall a great beer, barrel aging it surely enhanced it.
