This is my favorite Oktoberfest. Munich malt dominates the flare or and aroma. Noble hops balance the flavor. This is my favorite empyrean/Lazlos beer. Should be their signature.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 geneticbloom (8) - Lincoln, Nebraska, USA - OCT 9, 2011 does not count
My favorite Oktoberfest of the year. It pours a great color and has a little kick to it when it hits your tongue. It’s not bitter and tastes as you’d expect a Marzen to.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 wlajwl (1797) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - OCT 2, 2011
Has a sharpness in flavor, a bit of a bite. The appearance is almost similar in look to a red ale. Decent, a bit different due to the sharpness but still drinkable.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 fidelis83 (1354) - Clinton, Iowa, USA - SEP 24, 2011
Pours a clear, dark orange with ah 1 finger, creamy off-white head that has great retention and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is full of toast and grain with spicy, herbal hops and an odd licorice note. Flavor is cereal grain, biscuit, sweet malt, earthy, almost potato-like sweetness, more licorice, spicy, herbal hops and a bit more bitterness than 28IBU indicates to me for a beer like this. Palate is medium bodied, somewhat creamy on entry and dry toward the finish wiht a moderate, sharp carbonation. Really good Marzen overall, I could drink these for an evening.

typical Ofest color, deep orange/copper. head is thick and frothy, almond color. nose has surprisingly good notes of caramel and bready malts. flavor is dominated by the caramel malts. flavor is a bit one dimensional, but not bad.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 heemer77 (4794) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - SEP 9, 2011
Bottle from Beer Crazy in Urbandale. Lightly copper tinted brew with a light and thin khaki head. A doughy nose smells like peach pie. There is also a note of red licorice. The taste was fairly sweet, like brown sugar drenched peach pie. There is also a little hint of cinnamon spice in the finish. This is pretty tasty and interesting.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 CanIHave4Beers (2095) - Des Moines, Iowa, USA - AUG 24, 2011
The first Oktoberfest of the season for me, and I’ll be darned it’s a brand spanking new one. If I were judging this at a BJCP competition I would say that the bottle had an extremely low fill, which doesn’t detract points there or here... just sayin’ it was filled below the bottle neck line... I never see that on a commercial beer. The beer pours a deep orange color with a medium head. The aroma is very malty with lots of raw grain and dead leaves. The flavor is very malty but also pretty bitter.... at times the bitterness is nice and at times it’s a little unpleasant, unfortunately usually it’s more of the latter. The beer has a mild astringency in the finish but loads of good malt flavor all over the place, a nice light toastiness, some anise, a little bit of sweetness. It’s not bad.
