I beat Scott to this one! 12oz bottle from Eboats. Pours a very light copper color with a white foamy head. Head receeds to a small ring. Nose is sweet caramel and nutty malt. Flavors of caramel, nuts, a light hint of sour mash. Very mild and easy to swallow. WOuldnt be a bad one to drink alot of at a party.

Thanks to Sledge Jr for this one!
This one starts out with a small off white head that disappears quickly.
Light amber colored body.
Sour orange aroma. The flavor is slightly sweet, but lacks the malty, smoky characteristics I look for in a good Scottish Ale. This needs more body to meet the style expectations as itís quite thin.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours dark orange with quickly fading tan head. Too light in color. Slightly caramel malt aroma, but lacking the faint smokiness in many of this style. Very thin on the palate for a Scottish Ale. Little to no hop bitterness, as is appropriate for style. Below average.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
12 oz. bottle into tulip glass. Dark clear orange in the glass. Medium to large white fizzy/fluffy/firm head thatís mostly diminishing. Thick but oily lacing, good sluggish sub-surface "racing." Macroish hop smell with a little spice, and a vague whiff of caramel malt. Good malt sweetness. Not enough flavor, though. Some soft pilsner style hops, very faint. A trace of the advertised hickory smoke on the finish. In all, fairly weak and uninteresting, but drinkable.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Cask. Slight head, mellow gold. Very little aroma, slight malt smell. Creamy, fairly chilled for cask, smooth, light flavor, but the body does seem a bit more full than the norm for Empyrean beers...touch, just a touch, of spicy bitterness at the end...light quaffer with an odd predominant butter, carmel flavor that makes the malt character muddled instead of yummy.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured a pure amber color. The head is sticky with average sustainment. The aroma is woodsy. On the first swallow, itís peaty and roasty. It becomes more caramel than anything as the drinking goes ... bit thin. Not what Iíd call a "Scottish", but a decent enough mild ale.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Color a tawny brown, orange around the edge. Head: short, small, white. Aroma: Deep and rich, smoky and peaty, full of earthy notes, some dark fruit, and a touch of caramel sweetness.
Good initial hop feeling, nice buzz on the tongue, softly fades away into a roasty, toasty, even burnt feeling on the palate.
Malt is very big here, too, and contributes significantly, giving off even more caramel character. Body is full, texture is good, and the beer is rewarding and easily and happily drinkable.
All in all, a complex and very tasty Scottish ale from Nebraska.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Poured bright orangey color with zero head...smell is caramel, nuts, grass, and a little roasty...taste is thin, body is thinly malty with a little hop bitterness...didnít taste like the ABV was that high, but there was a little alcohol in the finish...drank very quickly...also at 6.4%, it goes down a little too quickly...
