Smells okay, a light bit of honey. Looks good. This is a pretty good beer. The honey isn’t real strong but there; some nice hops up front. This is a pretty good beer, especially for a light lager.

One of my favorite beers. It has a great taste, mildly sweet but not excessive with a good after taste. The right bar tender can get it to head but very little. Golden in color although it’s cloudy to look through. There are better but not many.

12oz bottle. I would’ve thought Honey Ale. Hazy, unfiltered, orange-tan color. Mellow, easy drinking light side of medium-bodied, quite quaffable. Quite old school, but quite well executed as well. The honey does provide an excellent balance between the medium golden-sweet malt tones and the mild, soapy bitterness, with its sweet gloss. Easy, simple, spot on.

Thanks, Ryan. Apparently I just love Empyrean beers; I think this is another one receiving unfairly low ratings. Tasted from cool 12oz stubby bottle with mysterious native artwork, poured into a nucleated tulip glass. It poured a cloudy light orange color with a sudsy, lasting off-white head and some Belgian lace, definitely benefiting from the lack of filtering and pasteurization. Smelled of mild malt, husky grain, honey, live yeast, faint earthy and woody hops. Nice bready flavor, zesty, chalky, white crackers, mellow earthiness. Very nice, well-balanced palate: mild citric acidity but mainly smooth and satisfying with a subtly fruity ale aftertaste which eventually finished dry. Interesting and unique. If I had to compare it to something, I’d say it’s a breadier, citrusier California Common, or a less wheat-y Choc Beer. But as you can see, both styles are obscure American originals. Delicious.

Very nice clear amber color, small white head that faded quickly and left little behind. The aroma was malty sweet and honey with a spicy note in there but i could just be dreamin,at times it almost smells like Chaucers Mead, just not as heavy in the aroma. The honey does manage to come through in the aroma but just lightly. The flavor was light malt and a mildly sweet honey hint with just a bit of caramel and maybe some spiciness but it’s hard to say if it’s for real. The finish was sweet and honeyish with a sweet malt after taste. It’s nothing real special but still a decent brew. Thanks go to Matt_Dinges for sending this one my way.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Pigfoot (2268) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - OCT 5, 2004
Appearance: Honey Gold it says in the name, and honey gold it looks in the glass, no doubt about it, with a small, departing white head.
Aroma: soft, calm, mellow sweetness, just a hint of honey, bright and pretty.
Taste: a most welcome hoppy blitzes the tongue, buzzing like a honey bee, then it’s all smooth-sailing, light, yummy. Light to medium body, tasty texture, nice finish. Quite a nice little ale, I could see it sitting in for a session or just a light change of pace for the palate.

One of my favorites from Empyrean’s selection. Sure, it’s fairly light in body, but the texture is a great honey drip style. The appearance is a nice golden amber. Particularly tasty on its own, but goes with food as well.

I don’t think I’ve ever been the 5th person to rate a beer. The first in Missour to rate Empyrean. I’m very lucky. No description but its sweet and hoppy, nice malt flavor, this is a very good beer. I’m in the process of acquiring more Empyrean as we speak. This is a solid brand that not many have tried. If you need a Nebraska to complete your 50, this is a very good choice.

Pours gold with a thin white head. Smells of dry malt, appley, some honey. Tastes dry and peppery with some fruitiness on the finish.

This one kicked the snot out of the brewery’s Better World Wheat. Nice crisp taste and a refreshing finish. I was able to grab a six-pack of this for $2.99. Hell of a deal.
