COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Can you escape the pull of our Collapsar Oatmeal Stout? Coffee-like roasted flavors are smoothed by the addition of oatmeal. Like our Irish brethren, we infuse our stout with nitrogen gas for a creamy head that “collapses” when poured.

This is my favorite of the Empyrean beers. This beer is silky smooth and has some nice hints of roasted barley and oatmeal flavor. The beer has a good mouthfeel and good body. The head retention is great because it is served on Nitro.

[Tap] Part of a sampler at Lazlo’s in Omaha. Pours a very dark shade of brown. Not much head, but decent lacing as you drink it. Roasted malt aroma features some chocolate and mocha. Dark malts, coffee, sweet milk chocolate, lactose and oats linger throughout. A tad thin. About what I expected.

Smooth nitro pour. Dark with a creamy white head. Nice malt and oat flavors, pleasant creamy mouthfeel and hints of chocolate and coffee. Tasty.

On tap @ Lazlos, was one of the better beers I had that night and I actually decided to go back and have a second of this one. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Sweet malt aroma with slight oats as well. Creamy mouthfeel with sweet malt and a hint of smoked. Decent brew.

(on tap at Lazlos in downtown Lincoln). Pours a very dark brown color. Large tan head which lasts. Malty oatmeal aroma. Strong malt/oatmeal flavor. Avg duration. Good lacing. Thin texture. Soft carbonation.

Candy smell...can’t place the candy type, but it does not invite you in for a taste. Typical stout tap head with a deep amber color...no lacing. Sour milk flavor...maybe too much lactose. More of milk stout than an oatmeal stout. Good mouthfeel with a decent finish.

On tap at Lazlos in Lincoln, Nebraska. Dark in color with a nice tan head. Nose of barley and oats. Good creamy mouthfeel. Tastes of malts with a hint of smoke. Decent finish.

On draft at the brewpub. Not very stouty. It is black, but just tastes like an amber beer, maybe with a light smoky twist. Drinkable and inoffensive but not noteworthy.

Had this on draught at Lazlos in the Haymarket. Very similar to guinness. The pour was exactly like a guinness black with a small tan head. You could smell hints of coffee and chocolate in the aroma. Tasted similar to guinness. This beer has some chocolate taste and isn’t quite as watery. The aftertaste does not have the stronger coffee taste guinness has.

Nice head retention, good roasted barley aroma and nose. Leans to the dry side of the stout scale, but pretty balanced. Consistently good. A joy when you find it on tap, but pours fine out of the bottle.
