Great local porter, not quite as good as Breckenridge VP but still a very good local brew.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours an intense dark chocolate brown with a medium/full tan head, heavy lacing. Aroma is a roasty, coffee malt. Body is medium/full, soft and foamy with a smooth finish. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter. Overall, a decent porter that although tasty did not deliver on the vanilla as hoped.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tastes more like vanilla pudding than vanilla beans. Still, I’ve got nothing against vanilla pudding. A little too sweet and not enough else going on but a nice finish to an evening.

On tap at the brewery. Black with an off-white head and nice lacing. The aroma is vanilla, roasted malts, light coffee and chocolate. Similar flavor with a light to medium body. Not bad.

Good at cellar temperature; hints of soy sauce on the palette. Smooth and good mouth feel.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
@ South Denver Beer Fest 2013. Clear dark brown with a thin light beige head. Aroma of roasty cocoa and a hint of burnt vanilla. Flavor is sweet and chocolaty with a touch of vanilla and toffee nougat. Overall, tastes a bit like cake. Sweet but not overbearing.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Poured into a perfect pint.
3.0 A: Clear deep amber brown color. One and a half fingers of frothy beige head. Retention is below average, but a small ring of lacing is left.
4.0 S: Vanilla is easily noticeable and blends extremely well with coffee and chocolate notes to give an almost creme brulee vibe. Graininess and a moderate roastiness underneath. Very pleasant.
3.0 T: This is tasty, but it doesn’t have the depth of flavor that the nose hinted at. Vanilla is strongest again and there is a decent amount of coffee, but the chocolate is all but gone. This is really dry, which hurts what I think they should have been going for. Lacks sweetness, caramel, and chocolate - all of which complement vanilla quite well. In that sense, this drinks hollow. Light grain and roastiness.
3.0 M: Light to lighter medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Lacking body and creaminess, which is what I love most in creme brulee type dark brews.
3.0 D: It’s not bad, but it disappoints once you get past the nose. Easy to drink though.

12oz Bottle A - Pours dark brown almost black. Small tan head. Good lacing. S - Cocoa and faint vanilla. T - Bitter chocolate, faint vanilla, bittering hops. M - Light/medium bodied. Mild carbonation. Slick texture. Bitter finish. O - Ok Porter, but a bit bitter. Would have liked more vanilla flavor.

Tap at Old Chicago, artificial in a word, just stale coffee and fake vanilla, cool to get it from Nebraska so that brings up the overall but this is easily skpped, not enough mouth to take on Breckenridge vanilla porter. almost chalky

Thanks to either Greg or Carter for sharing this one. Pours dark brown with a mahogany hue and an off white head. The aroma has non-bitter roasty malt, vanilla, walnuts, cocoa and a hint of medicinal traits. It has a medium / light body that’s a bit watery and has mild carbonation. The flavor starts off with roasty malt and vanilla from the aroma, but its a bit more subdued and has a mild chocolate presence. The finish is a bit tinny. Pretty good porter.
