COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A smooth-drinking, late-winter wonder. Weíve crafted this English-styled stout using roasted malts and a healthy dose of lactose sugar to produce a creamy-rich beer with hints of roasted chocolate.

Sampled from the bottle at the St. Paul Summer Beer Fest. Pours a clear dark brown with a brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a sweet musty dark grain with hints of bitter chocolate and roasted malts. Flavor is similar with sweet musty dark grains and chocolate as well as a hint of roasted malts.

Sweet Stouts are some of my favorite dark beers, and Fallen Angel is one Empyrean beer thatís eluded me. Maybe it was my high excitement to try this beer that led to it being something of a letdown for me. If you call a beer Fallen Angel, I want a sinfully delicious black beer with seductive smoothness and hedonistic - yet calculated - sweetness. Fallen Angel just isnít that. As a Sweet Stout, itís not particularly sweet (there is some spicy-sweet chocolate). Nor is it very Stout-like (not a lot of roasted flavor). Thatís not to say itís bad. Thereís a creamy taste and the grains are nice. Still, I found myself wanting a richer flavor and a velvet body. This is a decent seasonal thatís light on alcohol, though. If thatís your thing.

Pours a dark brown blackish color with a tan head. Well carbonated. Notes of milk, milk chocolate and roast. Sweet up front, creamy with a pop of carbonation. Roasted notes dominate along with the lactose. Moves in and out of chocolate notes, but very light. Light bodied beer, not great, or sessionable, but not cloyingly sweet, so thats good.

Bottle. A- Coffee, chocolate, roasty. A- Black color, dark liquid, tan head. T- Coffee, chocolate, bitter cocoa, roasty, slightly sweet, balanced. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, roasty finish. O- This sweet stout has a lot of coffee flavor and lots of chocolate. Not as creamy as I would have expected it to be but the sweetness from all the sugar is definitely present.

Not the worst beer I've ever had, but I definitely don't want to have it again. Kinda crappy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Certainly sweeter than other stouts, but that isnít necessarily a good thing. Different and a refreshing departure from other stouts, but the favors donít lend to more than wanting 6 to 8 oz.
