3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured a medium amber colour with a minimal, soapy head. Not much aroma to speak of but a nicely balanced, subtlely malty brew overall. My first sampling of Empyrean’s beers but not my last.

A little light for my taste but a nice American example of a true British style that I enjoy from time to time. On tap at Krug Park in Omaha, NE.

UPDATED: DEC 17, 2014 Luna Sea is best enjoyed when it’s fresh and the Noble hops are at their best. The malt has lots of caramel sweetness and the light hopping gives it a mildly fruity flourish. This ESB offers a lot of candy-like malt sugar and drink-ability.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: MAR 11, 2014 On tap at Jacks (Lincoln). Amber and clear with a white head. Pretty bland aroma of clean bitter hops, light malts. Similar flavor, watery. Meh. 635311: 2.8
Rerate: Accidentally bought a 12 oz bottle from Tipsy’s thinking I hadn’t tried it. Deep bloody orange and hazy appearance with a lingering, sticky white head. Aroma of toasted malts, toffee, caramel and earthy hops. Similar flavor, medium sweetness and mild bitterness with a rich, light chocolate finish. Average body with ample carbonation and a crisp feel. Not too bad.

Smells pretty rough but tastes much better... A lot smoother than one would think from its old style aroma...decent beer... Real easy to drink and nice bitterness with balance..
